JOB SUMMARY: The CNC Machinist II performs intermediate-level machining tasks with minimal supervision. This role involves programming, setting up and operating CNC dual-spindle lathes for low to medium volume precision machining. Interpreting complex drawings and collaborating across departments. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.Develop and modify machining programs using CAM software (Mastercam preferred)Experience or familiarity operating CMX, NHX, DMU65, DMU50, and VCF CNC machinesDesign and build tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutionsPerform machine setup including tooling offsets, work offsets, and prove-out of new programsInterpret complex engineering drawings, including GD&TInspect in-process and finished parts using precision measuring equipmentTroubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues to improve quality and efficiencyCollaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical challengesOperate basic shop equipment including bandsaws, manual lathes, mills, drill presses, and shearsMaintain machines, tooling, and work areas in a clean and safe conditionFollow all company safety procedures and support continuous improvement initiativesMentor junior machinists and support skill development within the team MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • High School diploma or GED required. • 3-10 years of CNC machining experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to independently program, set up, and operate CNC lathes with minimal supervisionStrong understanding of machining principles, tooling, feeds/speeds, and workholdingAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&TExperience using precision inspection equipmentExperience with dual-spindle CNC lathesExperience with mill-turn machiningFamiliarity with DN Solutions lathesExperience with BMT65 live tooling systemsMastercam programming experienceExperience machining tight-tolerance, high-performance, or defense-related componentsFamiliarity with FANUC-based controlsProficiency with Windows-based software (Excel, Outlook, etc.)Ownership of standard machinist tools Oshkosh is committed to working with and offering reasonable accommodations to job applicants with disabilities.
