About FDX: FDX is the leading non-profit technical standards body for Open Finance in North America. Our members build and maintain a common, interoperable, royalty-free standard for user-permissioned financial data sharing that enables thousands of businesses to replace less secure and reliable access methods with standardized, interoperable APIs, enabling millions of consumers and businesses to more easily access & use their financial data. FDX’s members include roughly 200 organizations spanning banks, credit unions, fintechs, data aggregators, technology service providers, consumer advocates, and others. The work happens through working groups and task forces where competitors reach consensus on how the ecosystem should function. The role: This role is the connective tissue of FDX’s standard-setting. You will convene our working groups and task forces, drive them to clear and documented consensus, stitch the work across them so the standard moves as one coherent whole – and bring the membership along with you: informed, energized, and aligned with where the standards are headed. Doing this well takes more than process discipline. You will need enough technical grounding to follow what is being built and why it matters to the industry: to know which conversations need to happen, to ask the question that unblocks a stalled debate, and to explain to the membership why a change to the standard matters commercially. You do not need to be an engineer or hold the technical pen. You do need to be credible with the people who do. Reporting to the SVP, Product, this is a senior individual contributor role for someone who is energized by getting a room full of smart, opinionated people from competing organizations to agree on something real – and then making sure it actually ships.  Responsibilities include: Standards orchestration: Convene and run FDX working groups and task forces: set agendas around the technical questions that need solving, facilitate sessions, and drive groups to clear, documented consensus and follow-through. Serve as the operational backbone of our forums – welcoming attendees, managing participation lists, assigning and following up on action items between calls, and sustaining energy and momentum during slower periods. Cross-forum integration: Stitch work across groups so standard-setting moves as one coherent whole: surface cross-forum dependencies, reconcile overlapping decisions, and keep the portfolio aligned. RFC and decision shepherding: Shepherd RFCs and decisions through the process, preparing materials and pre-alignment for technical committee forums so decisions land on schedule with minimal rework. Project-manage the delivery of jurisdiction-driven RFCs across the working group and task force portfolio, including cross-task-force stitching, so regionally driven requirements move through one standard and one process. Co-chair enablement: Keep co-chairs prepared, aligned, and empowered, handling the logistics and process so they can focus on substance. Run the cadence staff-driven, reducing the process tax so members spend their time on standards output rather than on navigating FDX.  Member engagement: Proactively invite members to speak, present, or contribute during sessions, and draw quieter voices into the conversation. Lower the barrier to participate by making asynchronous engagement easier, surface member-generated content, and identify and nurture highly engaged members and advocates. Member communication: Author substantive asynchronous updates for the membership – what is happening across the standards portfolio, why it matters, and what happens next – delivered through member communications and our Confluence member hub. Own the recurring cross-working-group summary and make it something busy members actually read. Evangelize the technical work, and partner with Communications, bringing the technical depth needed to translate forum activity accurately for a broad member audience. Participation insight: Track participation patterns across forums and report on group health – activity, participation trends, and where engagement is slipping – feeding those signals to the Member Success team. Contribute ideas for new engagement formats: learning sessions, peer roundtables, and other ways to make participation valuable. Qualifications Technical fluency: Depth in APIs, data standards, or comparable technical domains sufficient to follow a specification-level debate, understand what is at stake in it commercially, and hold your own with architects and developers Independent ownership: A seasoned individual contributor who can run multi-stakeholder processes autonomously: owns outcomes, sequences the work, and holds groups to their decisions Facilitation: Comfort leading conversations with diverse professionals – keeping structured virtual discussions on track without overriding member voices, drawing out quieter participants, and balancing dominant ones Influence without authority: Proven ability to get groups and their leaders to outcomes without formal authority over anyone in the room Follow-through: Proven ability to sustain momentum between meetings through disciplined follow-up and accountability Communication: Strong written communication: you can synthesize competing positions, frame a decision clearly, and write updates a technical audience will actually read Fast learning: Demonstrated ability to get up the curve quickly in an unfamiliar technical domain Evangelism: A genuine comfort energizing people about the work Initiative: Proactive by nature: you anticipate what a group needs and act, rather than waiting to be asked Preferred, though not required: background in open banking or open finance, financial services, or data interoperability; familiarity with consensus governance, including RFC processes, technical committees, and formal voting and approval workflows; facilitation and consensus-building experience in a standards body, industry consortium, trade association, or comparable committee-driven environment; experience with asynchronous collaboration tooling and light CRM or engagement tracking systems; and comfort operating across jurisdictions and in international standards work. This is not a junior coordinator role, a community moderation role focused on social content for its own sake, or a sales-oriented success role focused on renewals or upsell. It does not own the member relationship – account health, satisfaction, retention, and commercial outcomes sit with our Member Success team, and you partner with them. Nor is it a replacement for working group co-chairs: the job is to make them more effective.
