Join the MasTec family and help us provide the highest level of quality service to our customers and communities while maintaining our commitment to safety!ResponsibilitiesAs an Operations Manager, you are responsible for administrative and technical management for outside plant construction projects and the direction of underground construction, including directional drilling, aerial construction, and splicing through subordinate managers. And you’re up for the challenge.In addition, you will:Oversee total construction effort to ensure projects are constructed by design, budget, and scheduleInterface with field managers, clients, subcontractors, and owners to assure customer satisfactionPlan, coordinate, and/or supervise activities of all operations’ employees on assigned projectsConfer with project personnel to update project schedules every weekKeep direct contact with projects in progress by visiting project sitesAssist in disputes on all projects, negotiating as required to resolve construction problemsOversee all bid projects, including P&L responsibility and management of fleet assets dedicated to bid projectsWork with the Office Manager to ensure compliance with all internal reporting deadlinesPrepare weekly revenue and cost reportsPrepare and submit invoices every weekWork to resolve all accounts receivable invoices over 51 daysEnsure all company, client, and project policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to and interpret policies as requiredCultivate and continuously seek to enhance an in-depth understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc., and their impact on project activitiesAssist with the implementation/interpretation of safety programsLiaise with estimating to ensure projects comply with cost, revenue, and scheduleExamine estimates of material, equipment, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure completeness and accuracyPrepare status reports and modify schedules or plans as requiredPrepare project reports for management, client, or others, including dollar estimates to complete and variance analysis for significant itemsAnalyze projects for adherence to budget and percentage of profitabilityDirectly supervise 4 to 8 Construction Managers, Project Managers, and Construction SupervisorsCarry out supervisory responsibilities such as training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints or resolving problems according to company policiesPerform other duties as required and/or assignedQualificationsAbout You:You have a track record of completing work with a high level of qualityYou have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to your workHave a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experienceHave 5 years of management-level experience in outside plant constructionAble to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical procedures, or governmental regulationsAble to write reports and business correspondenceAble to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general publicAble to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only standardization existsAble to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formPossess strong written and verbal communication skillsHave strong organizational and business management skillsHave proficiency with Microsoft Office applicationsHard work pays off.
