Night Operations Manager
The primary mission of the Night Transportation Manager is to oversee all activities that occur on extended coverage for Baylor Trucking. Those activities Include, but are not limited to, safety, operations, maintenance, customer service, and professional driver management. The Night Operations Coordinator is also responsible and accountable to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed below.
Responsibilities:
1. Always adhere to our core values to be SAFE, LEGAL, and ON TIME
Follow all company guidelines and procedures related to proper cargo safety and security
Monitor all high risk / high value shipments and ensure the HVHR checklist has been completed and proper tracking codes have been used.
Document any safety violations, accidents or motorist complaints utilizing the proper forms and turn that information over to the Safety Department via proper turnover procedures
Monitor all hazardous material shipments and ensure the HAZMAT checklist is completed.
Track all professional drivers in Manhattan (Hemispheres) to monitor for potential service failures and notate your work by utilizing the proper Manhattan tracking codes
Ensure that the verbal dispatch procedure for all high-profile customer shipments has been completed and proper tracking codes have been entered.
2. Accurately maintain a daily check sheet to prompt proper communication and ensure dispatch and customer service processes and procedures are being followed
3. Facilitate professional driver and customer communication during your shift
Ensure the phone system is set and covered correctly for after hours operations to guarantee all incoming phone calls are properly routed or stacked
Verify the alternate user message interface is assigned correctly for proper coverage of incoming driver messages
4. Provide accurate and timely information to our customers
Respond to all incoming customer emails and provide consistent, accurate, and thorough service tracking information in a timely manner
5. Review and execute planning for designated areas when necessary
Provide end of shift turnover with area summaries and open item issues still needing resolution
6. Ensure service commitments are maintained by securing outside carrier capacity when necessary.
Verify outside carriers meet our standards by using carrier review software
Ensure proper rate contracts are supplied and returned before dispatching an outside carrier
Ensure that a dispatched outside carrier has submitted to use and is actively using our tracking software
Maintain service tracking on outside carriers using our tracking software
7. Provide support and timely communication of operational needs to our professional drivers and provide follow up communication to management when necessary.
Communicate all professional driver retention issues to senior management for involvement as soon as an issue is identified
Ensure current and accurate data in the transportation management system (TMS) is maintained including PTA, RDO, location, and all other relevant needs through check call entry
Monitor mechanical issues reported by customers or professional drivers and set up emergency breakdown assistance when needed
8. Consistently check and maintain customer EDI communication
Utilize customer websites, portals, and TMS to schedule appointments, communicate service tracking, or initiate accessorial billing (detention, lumper fees)
9. Run reports or assist with special projects as directed
10. Communicate to all other shifts and departments via turnover procedure and forms to primary coverage groups
Education and Experience
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration is preferred with an emphasis in Marketing, Management, or Transportation/Logistics, or equivalent experience.
Two or three years of transportation experience, preferably in the truckload segment of the industry.
One to two years AS400 and PC experience preferred.
Six months to one-year supervisory experience preferred.
Two to three years customer service experience preferred.

Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour
