Wellness Specialist
The Wellness Specialist implements and promotes the Company’s worksite wellness programs for assigned company locations through planning, implementation and evaluation of wellness programs and activities in accordance with established goals and objectives for optimum employee health and promotion of a healthy workplace. In addition, this position provides regular presentations and communication of wellness subject matter.Essential Job FunctionsWith guidance and direction from the Benefits and Wellness Team Leader, researches, develops, evaluates and implements wellness initiatives designed to foster optimum social, occupational, physical, intellectual and emotional health of employees and family members. Initiatives must also be directed at controlling medical expenditures for employees and family members. Evaluates and documents participation, satisfaction and impact on health risk reduction and implements enhancements based on results.Prepares effective internal marketing of wellness programs to maximum participation. Designs and/or recommends, organizes and distributes wellness educational materials and resources for assigned company locations. Monitors fitness center usage and equipment maintenance requirements. Establishes effective working relationships with all vendors involved in fulfilling program initiatives.Serves as company representative on community wellness committees, collaborates with other business and community health promotion personnel, and partners with appropriate local health professionals and agencies to maximize area wellness resources. Researches and recommends programs and/or activities to promote healthy habits and behaviors designed to increase productivity and engagement in the workplace. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.Job Specific RequirementsLicenses/Certificates: N/AAttendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required; minimal travel may be requiredPhysical: Regularly lifts up to 15 lbs.; repetitive motion; tolerates standing, walking, bending and sittingEnvironmental: N/AEducation And ExperienceBachelor degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Community Health, Nutrition or related course of study or equivalent requiredOne to two years related health promotion experience required, i.e., Health Sciences, Community Health, Exercise Science, Health Education, Physical Education, etcOne to two years previous experience in corporate wellness or equivalent requiredProficiency with Microsoft Software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) requiredRegistered Dietitian (RD) or similar designation preferredAvailable BenefitsMoving is expensive and hard work!
