Data Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Data Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Columbus, OH. The ideal candidate must have strong experience with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, PostgreSQL, AWS Cloud, and Enterprise ETL/ELT Development, along with expertise in database migration, performance optimization, and cloud-based data engineering solutions.Rate Range: $55/hour to $57/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.Data Engineer Job Responsibilities IncludeAnalyze SQL Server schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, indexes, and workloads to support migration planning and execution.Design and implement SQL Server to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL migration strategies for enterprise-scale database environments.Convert, optimize, and validate T-SQL objects, queries, stored procedures, and database code for PostgreSQL compatibility and performance.Identify SQL Server to PostgreSQL compatibility gaps and develop remediation strategies to address migration challenges.Support schema conversion, data migration, reconciliation activities, and end-to-end migration testing efforts.Design, develop, and maintain enterprise ETL/ELT pipelines utilizing AWS services and modern data engineering frameworks.Develop and support Apache Airflow DAGs and AWS Glue workflows for automated data processing and orchestration.Desired QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.10+ years of experience in: PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, SQL Development, Data Engineering, ETL/ELT Development.Strong expertise in: PostgreSQL Architecture, Query Optimization, Indexing Strategies, Execution Plans, Partitioning, Database Statistics, SQL Performance Tuning.Experience with: Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL Development, Database Migration Projects, Data Reconciliation.Strong hands-on AWS experience including: AWS Glue, Amazon S3, IAM, Secrets Manager, CloudWatchStrong Python development skills including: Automation, Data Processing, Validation, Boto3 SDKPreferred QualificationsExperience with: Amazon MWAA (Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow), AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT), PySpark, AWS Lambda, CI/CD Pipelines, Git & GitHubExperience with Infrastructure as Code tools including: Terraform, AWS CloudFormationKnowledge of database monitoring, observability, and performance management solutions.Experience utilizing GitHub Copilot or enterprise AI-assisted development tools.If you are interested in this role, then please click APPLY NOW.
