Optometric Technician
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced medical office environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, along with experience in patient intake and the use of electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Your expertise will help ensure that our patients receive the highest quality of care during their visits.
Duties
Assist optometrists with patient examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
Conduct patient intake, including gathering medical history and vital signs.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
Utilize aseptic techniques when preparing for examinations and procedures.
Manage optical inventory and assist patients with frame selection and fitting.
Document patient information accurately in EMR systems such as Epic.
Provide education to patients regarding eye health, contact lenses, and eyewear options.
Support front desk operations including appointment scheduling and handling medical records.
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient clinic operations.
Requirements
Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred; optical or ophthalmology experience is a plus.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Knowledge of retail sales practices and retail math is beneficial.
Familiarity with medical coding and billing processes is advantageous.
Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus.
Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing outstanding patient care.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks.
