Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Academic Faculty

Marian University invites mission-driven educators to join our dynamic community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews. As part of the inaugural Doctor of Physical Therapy program within the Department of Physical Therapy, we seek faculty members committed to preparing transformative leaders in physical therapy who illuminate the dignity of individuals across communities.This full-time, 12-month, tenured or non-tenured core faculty appointment available at the rank of clinical assistant, clinical associate, assistant, or associate professor-offers a unique opportunity to shape a groundbreaking program with creativity and a passion for advancing physical therapy education. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Employment will start between August 2026 and July 2027. Individuals with expertise in foundational sciences and physical therapy practice including the areas of musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, integumentary, geriatrics, pediatrics, administration and/or other specialties are encouraged to apply.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Mission* Actively engages the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity and integrating the Catholic Franciscan Intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.* Support and reflect Marian University's Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University byembracing the Franciscan Sponsorship Values (dignity of the individual, peach and justice, reconciliation, andresponsible stewardship) and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformativeeducation.* Contribute to the creation of a mission, vision, and strategic plan for the developing DPT program that supportsinnovation, accessibility, leadership, collaboration, and excellence in physical therapy education and practice.TeachingCreate and deliver quality learning experiences that are:Consistent with the DPT program's mission and curricular guiding principlesAlign with experience/expertise, as agreed upon with the DPT Program DirectorEnsure compliance with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)standards* Provide honest and meaningful assessment of student learning, competence, and behaviors that cultivatereflective and adaptive learning.* Demonstrate teaching effectiveness and appropriate use of educational technology* Participate in assessment of student progress toward entrustment of professional physical therapy activitiesduring didactic and clinical curricula.Scholarship* Contribute to clinical practice and physical therapy evidence by producing and disseminating impactful researchand scholarship with an ongoing scholarly agenda.* Promote a culture of research and prioritize evidence-informed practice.Service* Role model Franciscan values through collaborative endeavors and service to the university, profession, andcommunities.* Serve on at least once committee or task force annually at the university, unit, department or program levelProgram* Initiate, adopt, evaluate, and uphold program and University policies, procedures, and practices including, butnot limited to:Admission requirementsAcademic policies (i.e. grading policy)Professional behavior policies (i.e. related to ethical behavior, essential functions)Student progression through the programCurricular development, review and revision* Engage in developing and implementing expectations for student behaviors and skills that ensure competencyand safety before engaging in clinical education.* Participate in the assessment of students' professionalism, competence, safety, and readiness for clinicaleducation, in cooperation with other faculty.* Provide coaching to program students to facilitate self-directed and lifelong learning.Others* Teaching responsibilities outside the program may occur prior to DPT student matriculation.* Other duties as assigned by the DPT Program DirectorUniversity and Department ExpectationsStrong organizational, communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and coaching skillsCommunicates regularly with supervisorEngage in recruitment and retention activities for studentsRegularly participates in academic program, department, unit, and university meetingsEnsure compliance with university and departmental policies and proceduresContribute to development and assessment of department goals, objectives, curriculum, and strategic planSupport the accomplishment of the University strategic goalsAdheres to the department budgetRegularly participates in academic unit meetingsKnowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian UniversityCreate a development plan that aligns with the department strategic plan and continued professional growthParticipate in annual faculty evaluation consistent with university practicesShows courtesy and respect in interactions with fellow employees, students, and supervisorsRequired Qualifications:Core faculty within the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program will demonstrate the academic and professionalqualifications and relevant experience requisite for providing effective teaching, scholarship and service within physicaltherapy education. Qualifications include all the following:* A terminal academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DHSc, DSc, etc.) or clinical doctoral degree in physical therapy(DPT).* Hold an active, unencumbered, Indiana physical therapy license or be eligible for licensure within the state ofIndiana.* Evidence of successful academic and/or clinical teaching in physical therapy.* Evidence of contemporary expertise that represents knowledge and skills reflective of current physical therapypractice and/or scholarship.* Evidence of an ongoing scholarly agenda or interest in developing a scholarly agenda.* Evidence of a record of service at the local, state, and/or national levels.Preference will be given to those with an earned terminal academic doctoral degree, previous experience in physicaltherapy education, experience with curriculum development, established scholarly agenda, active professional service atthe local, state, and/or national levels, and/or ABPTS certification.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.For Consideration All Applications Require:Cover LetterCurrent resume or CVContact information of three professional references.
