Job Title: Cloud Engineer IIIRole OverviewWe are seeking a seasoned Cloud Engineer to join our agile Cloud Management team. This role is responsible for design and implementation of a continuous delivery cloud governance and enablement framework across multiple commercial cloud service providers using modern CICD toolkit like Terraform, Ansible, Python, GoYou will be part of the Cloud & Service Management organization tasked with modernization and improvement of cloud estate management while ensuring security, repeatability, and speed of deliveryThis is a hands-on role with ownership of both solution delivery and platform best practices.Key ResponsibilitiesCloud ManagementDesign and maintain cloud governance and enablement services across heterogeneous cloud estate spanning Amazon, Microsoft, Google and IBM cloud service providersMaintain cloud estate integrations across observability and security platformsTranslate security and governance requirements into cloud provider policy languageHardening and distribution of approved virtual machine images across the enterpriseManage ingress protection services such as WAF/DDoSDesign and curate log aggregation/streaming to SEIM platformsSupport new account intake workflow across cloud providersParticipate in on-call rotation, monitoring cloud management ecosystem availability and performancePlatform Governance & OperationsDefine and maintain environment promotion strategies for cloud provider estatesEstablish governance standards to prevent platform sprawl and security incidentsPartner with security and technology teams on scoping and rollout of access control policiesDesign and implement agentic workflows that assist with cloud governance tasksProvide guidance and enablement to analysts and platform developersTechnical DepthDisplay deep technical knowledge across multiple competence domains including cloud computing, networking, security, and automationDemonstrate ability to design durable patterns for cloud estate managementAutomation & InnovationBuild and maintain cloud management continuous delivery workflowsDevelop tools and applications in support of business requirementsContinually propose and implement automation solutions that elevate operational efficiencyImplement error handling, logging, and operational support patternsModernize cloud operations using agentic automation and AI/ML-driven insightsLearning & AdaptabilityRemain updated on industry trends and emerging technologiesShowcase the ability to adapt and learn quicklyCollaboration & LeadershipTranslate new business requirements into scalable technical solutionsAct as a subject matter expert for Google and IBM commercial cloud service providersMentor junior team members and promote best practicesContribute to platform roadmap and continuous improvement effortsRequired QualificationsUndergraduate degree in Software Engineering or equivalent5+ years of experience in software/infrastructure as code development3+ years of hands-on cloud engineering and developmentWorking knowledge of Google and IBM cloud service providersExperience managing heterogeneous cloud estate environments with focus on security and scalabilityStrong understanding of data security and governance patterns for cloud estate managementHigh-level of cross-collaboration with internal customers/partnersAbility to work across many levels of engineers and managementExperience building and operating automation patterns that rely on AI/ML or agentic workflowsHands-on experience with:TerraformAnsiblePythonGoBashCloud Shell/Provider APIsPreferred QualificationsStrong familiarity with Amazon and Microsoft cloud service providersExperience designing enterprise-scale solutionsExperience working in a Center of Excellence (CoE) modelWorking knowledge of governance and guardrail patterns for agentic workflowsFamiliarity with:Power ShellTerragruntJavascript/NodeWho we are:At Pearson, our purpose is simple: to help people realize the life they imagine through learning.
