Splunk Engineer/Architect

Role Description The Splunk Engineer/Architect will design, implement, and optimize Splunk infrastructures to support log management, monitoring, and security analytics in a remote contract role. Responsibilities include architecting Splunk deployments, configuring data ingestion pipelines, creating dashboards and alerts, and ensuring the platform is scalable, reliable, and secure. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, translating them into technical designs, and developing best practices for data modeling and performance tuning. The Splunk Engineer/Architect will also troubleshoot issues, support upgrades and integrations, document solutions, and provide guidance on using Splunk for observability and security operations.QualificationsCandidates should possess strong Architecture skills, including designing and scaling Splunk environments and related integrations.Candidates should possess Project Management skills to plan, coordinate, and deliver Splunk initiatives on time and within scope.Candidates should possess Teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with security, infrastructure, DevOps, and business stakeholders.Additional beneficial qualifications include:Hands-on experience with Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Cloud, and Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) or IT Service Intelligence (ITSI).Proficiency in creating queries, dashboards, alerts, and data models using SPL (Search Processing Language).Experience integrating Splunk with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and common log sources (firewalls, servers, applications).Knowledge of security operations, SIEM concepts, and observability/monitoring best practices.Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with attention to performance and data quality.Relevant certifications such as Splunk Core Certified Power User, Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin, or equivalent experience.
