Starting Salary Range: $66,000-72,000
EFK Moen, LLC, is a civil engineering design consulting firm headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri with additional office locations in St. Charles, Missouri, Chicago and Fairview Heights, Illinois, and Atlanta, Georgia. We are currently seeking a Project Accountant for a full-time position in our St. Louis, Missouri Office. Our company offers a locally competitive salary and comprehensive benefit package.
Job Description:
This position reports to the Accounting Manager for coordination on daily tasks. The Project Accountant will be responsible for providing financial support, guidance, and oversight to managers and other leadership at all phases of the lifecycle of various projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and display a good working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job cost systems. This role requires a detail-oriented approach, and the ability to utilize strong communication skills to be able to work collaboratively amongst teams.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position:
Provide accurate and timely support to project managers, performing thorough and complete project financial management:
Create and ensure client invoices comply with contract terms and client-specific requests for both time and direct costs; Request invoices from subs and vendors if necessary
Obtain necessary invoice information from PMs including progress reports and percentage complete in order to post invoices into the accounting system; Generate invoices and distribute to respective PM
Coordinate preparation of required client invoice templates
Coordinate all invoice correspondence with client including submittal of invoices and follow-up regarding any questions or necessary adjustments
Maintain a monthly invoice control log and maintain electronic filing system of all project files including contracts, startup sheets, project invoices, etc.
Set-up projects in accounting system and maintain the budget and schedule changes
Obtain certificates of insurance to meet contract requirements
Prepare project accounting reports for project managers: Run and analyze project profitability reports, project forecasts, resource needs analysis and project closeouts
Maintain backlog report and "current (resource) obligation" reports periodically required by the Business Development department for use in project proposals
Assist with the collection of aged receivable balances; Assist vendors and subcontractors when inquiring on invoice/payment status
Periodically update invoice submittal or payment information in respective client electronic invoice tracking systems
Periodically provide project information for any project audit initiated by a client
Annually provide project information for tax credit analysis for the tax return preparers
Cross-train in all aspects of accounting, preparing to fill in for anyone absent, and to grow in responsibility and scope over time
Assist with tasks as assigned by the Accounting Manager
Knowledge/Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
4+ years of accounting experience required, preferably in the AEC Industry
Knowledge of governmental accounting/Federal Acquisition Regulations is a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong time-management skills
Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
Proficiency in electronic accounting systems; Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, especially Microsoft Excel
Ability to travel occasionally for training and/or conferences
Physical Qualifications:
Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods of time
Ability to type and/or use a computer for extended periods of time
Sufficient mobility to move to various locations in and out of the office to use various office equipment, coordinate with other staff, visit other EFK Moen and client offices/meeting locations
Sufficient visual ability to focus attention on extended use of electronic documents and software
