Should possess the ability to adapt to different levels and needs of students, build a strong rapport with parents and colleagues, and have the desire to work in a student-centered environment.Essential DutiesEffectively observe assigned work hours.Maintain a pattern of prompt and regular attendance.Follow the daily schedule as prescribed.Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by the teacher.Provide extra assistance to students with exceptionalities, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and/or mental disabilities, and 504 Plans.Assist as directed by the supervising teacher in the effort to successfully maintain students with special needs in an integrated setting, as determined by the IEP team.Assist identified students with transporting materials or supplies as needed.Assist identified students with specific personal and physical needs.Serve as a source of information and assist any substitute teacher assigned to the class.Participate in staff development opportunities provided by the district.Demonstrate a positive attitude toward work assignments.Prolonged periods of standing or sitting may be required.Other duties may be assigned.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent.60 College Hours or Passing Scores on the Paraprofessional Assessment.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.Work EnvironmentThe work environment is a standard office setting and school/classroom.
