The Big Spring School District is seeking individual that would be interested in the following CLASSIFIED POSITION: Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Superintendent.This vacancy is a 7.75hr/day position working 232 days per the school calendar.Additional wage offered for Post-Secondary Education Degrees and proven direct industry experience.Job DescriptionSpecific Job Description to be applied upon hire as appropriate.QUALIFICATIONSThe Administrative Assistant shall:Possess a high school diploma.Have high school and/or supplemental training in typing, basic accounting procedures, and a thorough knowledge of general office operational procedures.Possess a minimum of one (1) year of successful administrative clerical experience in a business or educationally related area.Demonstrate proficiency in the use of commercial office productivity softwareESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSSCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIESReceptionistAttendanceForms and SuppliesStudent ConcernsGuidanceCLERICAL RESPONSIBILITIESGeneral Office:Compose, prepare, type, distribute and file memos, forms and correspondence as directedReports and Bulletins:Be responsible for all school reportsBe responsible for excuse card filing, daily attendance and attendance reportsBe responsible for maintaining an up to date pupil information fileBe responsible for typing and distributing the principal's weekly staff newsletterReceive and distribute records of all elementary pupilsMaintain files of guidance counselorCommunications:Serve as building receptionist for students and the publicBe responsible for telephone callsBe responsible for all incoming and outgoing mailBe responsible for the public address communication system of theBuildingBe responsible for typing and sending notices to parents and childrenBe communication secretary for the guidance counselorMaterials and Supplies:Maintain inventory, receive, check and distribute supplies and equipmentInventory, compile, school order for textbooks and distribute the same to classroomMISCELLANEOUS RESPONSIBILTIESThe Administrative Assistant shall:Temporary coverage for staff in the buildingAssist in the preparation of special projects or requests for information as directed by the principalAssist other secretaries under unusual circumstances and exceptional workload requirementsPerform other duties as directed by District AdministrationWORK ENVIRONMENTOffice, Schools, meeting and conference areas. Work indoors and outdoors; visit classrooms and area employers. Position is in well-lighted and well-ventilated school buildings.ATTENDANCERegular attendance is required.
