Position Title: ControllerLocation: Hybrid (3 days in office)Employment Type: Full-TimePosition OverviewWe are seeking a highly strategic and detail-oriented Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations across a growing real estate investment platform.This individual will oversee multi-entity partnership accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls, while supporting capital events, investor reporting, and portfolio growth initiatives. The role requires a hands-on leader who can operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.The Controller will partner closely with executive leadership, investment teams, and external advisors to ensure financial integrity, operational efficiency, and scalable infrastructure.Key ResponsibilitiesPartnership & Investment AccountingOversee multi-entity accounting structures, including capital accounts, equity roll-forwards, and investor allocationsValidate and maintain distribution waterfalls in accordance with partnership agreementsManage accounting for capital events, including acquisitions, dispositions, refinancings, and investor distributionsCoordinate with tax advisors on K-1 reporting, carried interest, promote structures, and incentive allocationsMaintain detailed documentation supporting all ownership and capital transactionsFinancial Reporting & ComplianceEnsure GAAP-compliant financial reporting across all entitiesOversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including consolidated reportingMaintain and enhance internal controls and accounting policiesServe as primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and lendersSupport lender reporting requirements and ensure compliance with debt covenants and financing structuresOperational Leadership & Process ImprovementLead and develop the accounting function, including team oversight and mentorshipBuild and scale systems, workflows, and processes to support continued portfolio growthImplement best practices aligned with institutional real estate and private equity standardsDrive automation, reporting enhancements, and data integrity across financial systemsPartner cross-functionally with asset management, acquisitions, and operations teamsStrategic Finance & Capital SupportPartner with leadership on financial planning, capital strategy, and portfolio performance analysisSupport fundraising initiatives by ensuring accurate and transparent financial reportingProvide insights and recommendations to improve profitability, efficiency, and asset performanceQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within real estate, private equity, or investment managementExperience managing multi-entity and partnership accounting structuresStrong understanding of capital accounts, waterfalls, promotes, and investor reportingAdvanced proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise (required)Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, scenario analysis, and data manipulationStrong knowledge of GAAP, financial controls, and audit processesPreferred ExperienceBackground in commercial real estate, self-storage, or real estate private equityExperience with development or construction accountingFamiliarity with property management systems (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, RealPage)Experience supporting organizations with $100M+ AUM and multiple investor groupsKey CompetenciesInstitutional-level financial rigor and attention to detailAbility to manage complexity across multiple entities and ownership structuresStrong leadership and team development capabilitiesStrategic thinker with a hands-on, execution-oriented mindsetHigh integrity, discretion, and accountabilityStrong communication skills with executives, investors, and external partnersWhat This Role OffersOpportunity to step into a high-impact leadership role within a growing investment platformExposure to complex capital structures, acquisitions, and portfolio strategyCompetitive compensation with performance-based upsideEntrepreneurial environment with direct access to leadership and decision-making• • Ability to build and scale accounting infrastructure for long-term growth
