Laser Operator General Summary: Sets up and operate the Amada laser cutting machine to produce parts and products in conjunction with customer quality requirements. Essential Functions:Follow safe manufacturing and material handling practicesSet up and operate laser equipment to perform difficult fabrication operations on a wide range of metals and alloys for complicated subassemblies and assemblies involving coinciding requirements for high strength, pressure and aestheticsPerform first piece in-process inspection of jobs as required Ensure jobs meet all requirements before leaving work centerPerform preventive maintenance on equipment as requiredMaintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulationsConserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job resultsContribute to team effort by training others in performance of laser operation tasks as neededInspect all work prior to passing it on to the next operationDocument actions by completing production and quality forms Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust be able to safety use small hand and power toolsMust be able to read and interpret Drawings and Bills of MaterialMust have basic computer skills, including navigation in a Windows-based environmentSolid understanding of metal fabrication concepts and processes required1-2 years of prior CNC machine operation experience desirableMust possess a keen sense of attention to detailMust possess the ability to operate overhead cranes, handling large sheet steelMust be able to use measuring tools such as tape measures and calipersMust be able to determine material types and gagesMust possess effective written and verbal communication skillsMust perform all duties in conjunction with UAI and ISO requirements Education/Experience:High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development required 1 year experience working in a manufacturing environment desirablePrior experience or training in metal-cutting or operating laser equipment desirable Physical Demands: (The work is classified as Medium - Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL) by the US Dept of Labor's Dictionary of Occupational Titles) Frequencies: Occasional (1-33%); Frequent (34-66%); Continuous (67-100%) Lifting Demands: Lift up to 75 lbs on an occasional basis floor to waistLift up to 50 lbs on a frequent basis floor to chestCarry up to 75 lbs on an occasional basis up to 25 feet Push/pull up to 100 lbs on an occasional basis Postural Demands:Standing - continuousWalking - continuous Bending/stooping - frequentSquatting/kneeling - frequentLifting - frequent Miscellaneous Demands:Griping, manipulation, fingering - frequent Variable hand/power tool use - frequent Two-person lifting tasks using assistive devices for lifting, pulling and pushing including hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts and hoists Why join us?
