Compliance Lead

Reporting to the Head of Regulatory and Compliance, the Compliance Lead for the US is the primary point of contact with US regulators, banking partners, and auditors, and the owner of the US compliance program. This role sits within the company’s global Compliance function and is responsible for US licensing, regulatory examinations, SAR oversight, relationships with regulators and banking partners, and reporting on program health to the AML Oversight Committee and Board. The role also serves as the key compliance advisor on new products, market expansion, partnerships, complaints, escalations and policy management. In collaboration with the global Head of Regulatory and regional compliance leaders, you will help maintain a consistent global compliance standard across the US program, supporting the company’s growth ambitions in the US market.What You'll DoRepresent the US within the global Regulatory leadership team and oversee the health of the regional compliance program.Advise on new products, market expansion, partnerships and business initiatives, ensuring alignment with US licensing and regulatory requirements.Partner with Product, Operations, Legal and Regulatory teams to provide practical, risk-based compliance guidance and go/no-go recommendations.Audits and ExamsLead responses to regulatory examinations, audits and independent reviews, including coordination, exam management and remediation efforts.Ensure timely resolution of findings and provide clear reporting to management and the global Regulatory function.Stakeholder Management – Regulators & Banking PartnersServe as the primary contact for US regulators, including FinCEN, OFAC, NYDFS, CDFPI and other state authorities.Maintain strong relationships with banking partners, supporting onboarding, due diligence reviews and partner-bank examinations.Manage regulator engagement strategies and communicate emerging risks and regulatory developments internally.Stakeholder Management – Business PartnershipProvide business-friendly compliance guidance on operational questions, growth initiatives and regulatory matters.Build strong partnerships across the business to position Compliance as a strategic enabler of growth.Policy ManagementMaintain and oversee the US compliance policy framework, ensuring alignment with global standards and US regulatory requirements.Support training, implementation and policy exception management across the US business.SAR Filing & Financial Crime OversightOversee the US SAR program, ensuring accurate and timely filings with FinCEN and regulator-grade quality standards.Partner with the FIU to monitor SAR quality, identify emerging typologies and drive continuous improvement across controls and processes.Escalations, Complaints & OversightAct as the escalation point for US regulatory matters, policy exceptions and compliance risks.Oversee US complaints handling to ensure alignment with CFPB and state regulatory expectations.Monitor trends and drive improvements across products, policies and operations.Board & Governance ReportingPrepare and present materials for the AML Oversight Committee, Board and senior governance forums, including updates on regulatory engagement, licensing, SAR trends, complaints and emerging risks.Support enterprise risk management and remediation initiatives tied to US regulatory matters.Who You AreCompliance leader within the US FX, payments, money transmission/MSB, EMI/e-money or fintech industry or another highly regulated US organization.You have a hands-on approach with a growth mindset, and you are willing to step in where needed.Strategic thinker with strong execution skills, able to establish operating standards within a global framework and implement them effectively.Skilled problem-solver who can interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical, commercially viable controls and business recommendations.Strong communicator who can engage effectively with regulators, banking partners, auditors, executive leadership, the Board, AML Oversight Committee and analyst-level teams.Effective at managing multiple priorities and workstreams simultaneously, including SARs, licensing, exams, board reporting and expansion initiatives.Confident in representing the company externally with regulators, banking partners, auditors and business stakeholders.Minimum Requirements8+ years of experience in compliance, financial crime, regulatory advisory and licensing roles within US payments, money transmission, FX, EMI/MSB or fintech.Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Business, Economics, Law or a related field.Deep knowledge of US regulatory frameworks, including BSA/USA PATRIOT Act/OFAC requirements, FinCEN MSB rules, SAR filing obligations, state money transmitter laws (including NYDFS and CDFPI) and CFPB consumer protection regulations.Proven experience leading SAR programs, licensing, regulatory examinations, independent reviews, audits and partner-bank engagements.Experience preparing and presenting materials to Boards, AML Oversight Committees and other governance forums.ICA, ACAMS, CFCS or similar professional certifications are a plus.Exposure to AI/ML, analytics or automation initiatives within compliance or financial crime functions is a plus.#LI-Remote#LI-MH1
