Inspector General Investigator IIThe City of Atlanta Office of the Inspector General (OIG) seeks to ensure integrity of city operations, good stewardship of public resources, and to prevent conduct that undermines public trust in government. In furtherance of this mission, the OIG is searching for an experienced and highly motivated investigator to join its Compliance Division. Among other duties, the investigator will conduct investigations into complaints and allegations of fraud, waste, corruption, mismanagement, or abuse by City officials, employees, board members (voluntary or appointed), and contractors. OIG is an independent agency that reports to the Governing Board of the Office of the Inspector General, which is composed of nine City residents selected by business, civic, educational, and legal organizations.Work under general supervision and report to an Assistant Inspector General, the Deputy Inspector General, and/or Inspector General designee(s)Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesIntake allegations and complaintsInvestigate allegations and complaints received: Gathering, organizing, and analyzing financial, computer, business, legal, real estate, and other public and private recordsInterviewing complainants, witnesses, and subjectsEngaging in fieldworkDrafting and serving subpoenasExploiting databasesAssessing applicability of relevant laws, regulations, policies, and proceduresDocumenting information obtained and collecting evidenceMaintaining accurate and complete investigative filesConduct proactive initiativesPresent investigative findingsDraft reports, hearing documents, reprimands, and other enforcement documentationTestify in connection with enforcement and legal proceedingsAssess city operations to determine compliance risk, corruption vulnerabilities, and performance defects, and recommend corrective action and reform as applicableCollaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement partnersKnowledge, Skills & Abilities This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. Typical environmental conditions associated with job.The senior investigator will be expected to work full-time with an alternative schedule that is equal to a 40 hour work week. Most work is conducted in person at the OIG office located in downtown Atlanta.
