Their primary function is to assist with surgical procedures, including, but not limited to Cesarean Sections, tubal ligations, and hysterectomies. Tech’s are responsible for monitoring and maintaining sterility during the procedure. The OB Tech also attends vaginal deliveries to assist the nurses and provider with instruments and supplies. Maintaining and stocking supplies and equipment used for deliveries is the Tech’s responsibility. OB Tech’s provides care under the direction and supervision of an RN.The OB tech will float between metro entities to meet staffing needs of SLH, SLE, and SLN.Maintain stock of sterilized instrument trays for vaginal and C/Section birthsOpen instrument sets for each delivery and count instruments and supplies with an RNMaintain the Maternity OR to be ready for emergent C/SectionsMaintain supplies and equipment used for vaginal and C/Section deliveriesMaintain sterile technique and pass instruments to the providers during proceduresAnticipate the needs of the provider and have provider “preferences” ready at each deliveryStock the OR and patient rooms, so they are always prepared for deliveriesStock nursery procedure room and assist with circumcisions, as neededGeneral stocking of unit, as directedSpray dirty instruments with enzymatic cleaner, place in closed Biohazard containers and transport to the dirty instrument cart.Transport the dirty instrument cart to Sterile Processing as neededTransport placenta to pathology and place in formalinDock, empty, and quick wash the Neptune daily, when usedDock, empty, and extend clean the Neptune weeklyThis is a Full-time Night position.RequirementsSurgical Tech Certification2 years of experience - PreferredWhy Saint Luke’s?BenefitsWe believe in creating a collaborative environment, while looking for innovative ways to improve.
