This role sits directly alongside trading desks, supporting the systems that underpin live order flow and market connectivity.Rather than a pure development position, this is best described as a production engineering/SRE role within a trading environment. You’ll be responsible for keeping critical systems running in real time - triaging issues, making fast decisions under pressure, and taking ownership of problems as they arise. The balance of reactive support and proactive engineering is central to the role...Key ResponsibilitiesProvide hands-on support for execution systems during trading hours, ensuring continuity and stabilityInvestigate live incidents across application, system, and network layers, taking ownership through to resolutionMake real-time decisions on escalation vs direct remediation, working independently with strong judgementPartner closely with traders and engineering teams to minimise impact during production issuesMonitor system behaviour and identify early warning signs of failure or degradationBuild lightweight tooling and automation (Python, Bash, Ansible) to improve operational efficiencyAnalyse recurring problems and implement fixes that remove root causes rather than symptomsContribute to ongoing improvements in system resilience, performance, and recovery processesStrengthen monitoring, alerting, and visibility across trading applicationsSupport and optimise exchange connectivity and execution-related infrastructureWhat You’ll Bring…3-7 years’ experience in production engineering, SRE, DevOps, or application support within performance-critical environmentsStrong hands-on exposure to Linux in on-prem/bare-metal environments (essential)Proven ability to troubleshoot issues across application and system layers, not just infrastructureExperience working in environments where uptime, speed, and reliability are criticalPractical scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar) for automation and toolingFamiliarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible or equivalentSolid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP, routing, multicast)Ability to operate independently in fast-moving environments with minimal oversightStrong problem-solving instincts, particularly in time-sensitive or ambiguous situationsClear communication skills when working with both technical teams and front-office users(Preferred) Exposure to databases such as MySQL, MongoDB, or other NoSQL technologies...
