Public Works Project Manager

Project ManagerUnder general supervision of Road & Bridge Manager, the Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing seamlessly between various teams, projects, tasks and duties within the organization. Duties & Responsibilities: Oversees the maintenance and operational efficiency of our fleet of vehicles. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and vehicle histories. Manage and coordinate non-typical projects that require specialized attention. Coordinate project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure successful project execution. Design, develop, and coordinate training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of our maintenance and project teams. Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics. Continuously update training materials to align with industry best practices and company policies. Provide support to different departments as needed, assisting with tasks that range from delicate duties to project based assignments. Maintain clear and open lines of communication with internal stakeholders, external partners, and team members. Keep the Road & Bridge manager briefed at all times of field staff, work assignments, issues, or concerns. Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely acquisition of necessary parts, materials, and equipment for fleet maintenance and projects. Update upper management on project statuses, challenges, and opportunities. Perform any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution Experience: Three years of road maintenance experience Licensure: Valid driver's license (Texas by hire date) and a good driving record Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of Road & Bridge infrastructure and maintenance practices. Excellent communication skills (Verbal & Written) Ability to work autonomously. Possess self-discipline and initiative to manage tasks and projects independently, while also collaborating effectively with the team when necessary. Proficient in MS Office Suite, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Ability to efficiently prioritize, categorize, and respond to emails, ensuring effective communication and timely follow-up. Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to cultivate and sustain productive working relationships with various departments. Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adjust priorities as necessary in a fast-paced work environment. Bilingual and multi-cultural abilities are greatly appreciated. Preferences: Three years of supervisory experience is preferred Three years of project management experience is preferred General Information: A regular full-time position, requiring the employee to work 40 hours per week. This may include weekends and holidays. Work Environment: Work is primarily on active construction sites involving pervasive hazards associated with heavy equipment and tool operations; speeding traffic; loud and constant noise; and regular exposure to chemicals, dust, fumes, and combustible materials. Required to work outdoors on varied and often unstable terrain involving exposure to varying weather conditions of extreme hot and cold temperatures. Some working conditions require special precautions and the use of protective gear (e.g., hard hats, respirator masks, gloves, etc.). Physical Demands: Essential functions involve significant physical demands related to repeated lifting of up to 50 pounds unassisted, 100 pounds with assistance rarely; carrying tools, materials, and equipment over rough terrain; climbing, reaching and bending. Frequently required to walk, sit, talk, drive, hear, bend, stoop, twist, and balance; need the ability to occasionally kneel and crawl; need the ability to grasp manual controls and the ability to use foot controls and operate gas, diesel, and electrically powered equipment. Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
