This work includes strengthening instructional quality, improving educational interactions, and expanding access to high-quality care and education across the state.The Education Consultant 2 position supports the advancement of statewide early childhood priorities through instructional guidance, program evaluation, and implementation of improvement strategies across early childhood settings, including child care centers, public pre-K programs, and other early learning providers. This role requires strong content knowledge in early learning and development standards, curriculum, assessment, and teacher preparation, including support related to the Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate (ECAC).As part of the Strategy team, this position contributes to system-level planning and decision-making by analyzing program performance, identifying areas for improvement, and supporting the implementation of targeted initiatives. Responsibilities include guiding instructional improvement efforts, supporting early childhood systems in meeting statewide expectations. Targeted technical assistance provided by this role will support early childhood settings, including child care centers, public pre-K programs, and family child care providers, particularly those requiring additional intervention, to strengthen instructional practices and classroom interactions through varied delivery approaches.Applicants with the following experience are encouraged to apply:Experience providing coaching, technical assistance, or professional development to early childhood educators or child care providersStrong understanding of early learning and development standards, curriculum implementation, and classroom assessment toolsAbility to analyze and use data to identify needs and develop targeted improvement plansExperience supporting programs with performance improvement, especially those requiring intervention or corrective actionFamiliarity with early childhood licensing, health and safety standards, and publicly funded program requirementsStrong communication skills, including the ability to deliver clear, actionable feedback and build relationships with diverse stakeholdersAbility to manage a caseload, prioritize competing responsibilities, and work independently in a field-based roleExperience collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to statewide initiatives or projectsSix years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; ORSix years of full-time work experience plus three years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; ORA bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; ORAn advanced degree plus two years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties:As an Education Consultant 2, you will support early childhood learning systems and advance statewide early childhood priorities. In this role, you will:Provide on-site and virtual technical assistance to early childhood sites, educators, and leaders to improve classroom instruction and interactionsProvide targeted support to early learning programs to strengthen implementation of early learning standards, curriculum, and assessment practices.Develop and support the implementation of instructional improvement plans based on data, observations, and identified needsServe as a resource to early childhood providers, pre-K programs, and school districts statewide to support implementation of instructional improvement strategies.Analyze performance data, observations, and feedback to identify trends and recommend targeted supportsConnect early childhood systems to relevant training, resources, and services to strengthen program qualitySupport statewide early childhood initiatives, including reviewing applications, evaluating programs, and contributing to strategic projectsMonitor implementation of curriculum, assessment, and improvement strategies to ensure fidelity and effectiveness, and provide support for site improvement planning and progress monitoring.Communicate key findings, challenges, and recommendations from the field to internal teams to inform policy and program decisionsProvide support at early childhood conferences and assist with additional initiatives as neededPosition-Specific Details:Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series has a special entrance rate (SER) of $27.07 hourly, $2,165.60 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions.
