Stationary Engineer III

POSITION SUMMARY: The Stationary Engineer III, under the direction of the General Manager, operates, repairs, and maintains stationary equipment, specifically boilers, at the company processing plants in or around Houston. Ensures that equipment is operating safely and within established limits. Conducts monitoring and failure analysis of meters, gauges and controls to determine the need for repair or replacement of parts. Performs preventative maintenance and documents completed procedures. Provides overall subject matter expertise in all areas related to company boiler maintenance and operations. May require interaction with government officials related to regulatory compliance. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Operate and maintain boilers and related equipment. Perform routine inspections of mechanical systems to ensure proper operation and identify potential issues. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in stationary equipment. Perform minor repairs and adjustments on mechanical and electrical systems. Coordinate with vendors or specialists for major repairs or replacements as needed. Ensure all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety and environmental standards. Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work. Conduct safety checks and follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and equipment failures. Maintain logs of equipment performance, maintenance activities, and any incidents. Prepare reports on equipment status, maintenance needs, and operational issues. Assist in developing and updating operational procedures and preventive maintenance schedules. Work closely with other facility management, and external contractors to ensure seamless operations. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding equipment status and maintenance needs. Other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Third Grade Stationary Engineer License (or equivalent). QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience in operating and maintaining stationary equipment preferred. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC systems, and associated controls. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems. Proficient in reading technical manuals and schematics. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials. Capability to work in various environmental conditions, including confined spaces and extreme temperatures. Must be able to travel up and down catwalk stairs repeatedly. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds multiple times a day. Work Schedule: Typically part-time, with potential for on-call or shift work depending on facility needs.
