Facilities Technician
Assists the Facilities Supervisor in day-to-day maintenance to include inspection, preventive maintenance and reacting to unplanned maintenance needs of utilities, buildings and groundsThe list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the duties andresponsibilities performed within this classification. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position.Coordinates and interfaces with vendors and sub-contractors regarding facility projects, contractual obligations, and maintenance/repair issuesMonitors and coordinates facility repair requests to ensure timely service and thorough repairs Performs non-scheduled or emergency maintenance when required to support operationsConducts site inspections and diagnoses problemsMonitors installations, maintenance, repairs, and replacements; includes electrical, electronic, plumbing, HVAC, general carpentry, painting and access controlRecommends equipment purchases, remodeling and special projectsProvides quotes from vendors on large site projectsPerforms regular and directed grounds maintenance as neededMaintains maintenance records and schedules as requiredTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent and one (1) to three (3) years of related experience. Intermediate to advanced electrical, plumbing, carpentry & facility maintenance skills required.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONSValid Florida’s driver’s license and clean driving record required. A/C, electrical, plumbing, and/or building maintenance certification preferred. IFMA Certification, CDL endorsement and/or OSHA/General Industry 30 hour compliance certification preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESSkilled with basic facilities maintenance and repairAbility to read, write and speak English fluentlyAbility to follow complex oral and written instructionsAbility to communicate effectively orally and in writingAbility to work with minimal supervisionAbility to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of workProficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to travel 50% of the timePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.Functions involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work and may require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of heavy objects or materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment.
