IQC Automated Inspection Programmer

Description:Job DescriptionJob Title: IQC Automated Inspection ProgrammerDepartment: Incoming Quality ControlReports to: IQC SupervisorPrimary Function of Position:The IQC Automated Inspection Programmer will be performing dimensional and visual inspections of purchased parts, assemblies and products to ensure incoming specifications has been met prior to release to manufacturing and finished goods. In addition, the Quality Technician will develop programs for complex mechanical components which include but are not limited to CMM (coordinate measuring machine), CT Scanner, Smart Scope. and train quality inspectors in the use of the CMM. Document and communicate the results of inspections and process audits to engineers and others.Roles and Responsibilities:This position has responsibility and authority for:• Develop programs for Zeiss coordinate measuring machines using Calypso• Develop programs for OGP Optical Laser System• Develop programs using VG Studio Max• Provide guidance to ISI Engineering regards GD&T• Perform First Article inspections• Perform component part inspections using CMM, CT Scanner, Smart Scope, Vision Systems and hand tools (calipers, gage blocks, etc.) as required to support IQC process.• Prepare and publish process capability studies• Prepare and publish Gage R&R studies (Range & Repeatability)• Prepare and publish CMM reports including X-Bar & R and Capability Analysis• Perform and publish measurement correlation studies between ISI and ISI suppliers.• Communicate inspection results to engineers and others including ISI suppliers• Perform dimensional analysis for internal ISI customers (design / manufacturing engineers) as required.• Provide guidance to CMM Programmers to develop their programming skills and evaluate their competency.• Provide guidance to IQC Engineers with respect to inspection techniques, GD&T, and fixture & gage design.Skill/Job Requirements:Competency Requirements: (Competency is based on: education, training, skills and experience.)In order to adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the individual must:• Associate degree in engineering technology or equivalent work experience.• 5-8 years programming experience• Strong working knowledge of CMM programming using Zeiss coordinate measuring machines with Calypso software.• Knowledge of VG Studio Max• Strong working knowledge of quality/SPC tools including use of Control Charts, Process Capability, Gage R&R, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Charts, and APQP (advance product quality planning).• Must be able to use all standard inspection tools, gauges, optical comparators and various types of coordinate measuring machines effectively• Must be familiar with Sampling Plans such as Squeglia Zero Acceptance or ANSI/ASQC Z1.4 and Z1.7 (sampling procedures and tables for inspection by attributes and variable data)• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and experience with medical device components is a plus.• ASQ Six-Sigma Green Belt and/or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer are a plus.
