We seek a Data Engineer to join our team and help us continue to provide a high level of support to our business partners, while planning for our exciting future in the cloud. The Digital Data Services Data Engineer will work with a group of highly motivated and experienced technologists who work to create innovative tools to the C&F Surplus & Specialty Organization for quick and scalable business solutions.What You Will DoThis position is to support and develop in-house, cloud-based, data-driven solutions and initiatives, which involve:Build and maintain the pipelines that move and process data from disparate sources into our data lakehouse platformFacilitate data preparation for use cases involving internal reporting, data lakehouse integrations, and predictive analyticsWork closely with our analytics and reporting team to create and maintain curated data marts.Leverage agile software development methods to make iterative enhancements to the data lakehouse infrastructure and ETL processesWorking with the Snowflake Platform (Horizon Catalog, Snowpark, Cortex AI, etc)Data ingestion tools such as Fivetran, CData, AWS Glue, or Apache KafkaWorking with the full suite of AWS Services (S3, Lambda, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, etc)Working with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQLWorking with version control software such as Git and BitbucketWorking with the various business units to analyze need, recommend solutions, and work with the team to prioritize, plan, and execute on deliverablesCommunicate with other Digital teams and Business Units to clearly define project goals, discuss timelines, and provide input on solutionsBecome an agent of change and use your creativity and skills to implement new technology and skillsWhat You Will Bring To C&FDegree or certification in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Business, or equivalent3-4+ years working proficiently with SQL, Python and DataFrames.2+ years of experience with the Snowflake Data Cloud, preferably worked on Data Pipes, Streams, Streamlit, Dynamic Tables, and Snowpark.Familiarity with the AWS ecosystem, preferably the Analytics services and common utilities such as S3, SNS, SQS, Lambda Functions, Cloudwatch, etc.Good knowledge of working with semi-structured data, particularly JSONStrong in writing complex queries that involve nested joins, derived tables and common table expressions.Capable of performing technical root cause analysis and delivering corrective action.Experience working with APIs a plusA passion for learningGreat communication, note taking, and organizational skillsAn ability to leverage web searches and online training to obtain new skills quicklyAn ability to present to all levels of audienceExperience with Production Support and TroubleshootingAn enthusiastic and positive attitudeExperience working with external vendors a plusAbility to take ownership and see tasks through to completionWill abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F's management controlWhat C&F Will Bring To YouCompetitive compensation packageGenerous 401K employer matchEmployee Stock Purchase plan with employer matchingGenerous Paid Time OffExcellent benefits that go beyond health, dental & vision. Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $73,700 to a maximum of $100,000. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee's contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range.
