Data Engineer II
Overview
In this role you will design, build, and operate modern data products and pipelines within a scale delivery program. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective data assets that enable analytics and downstream applications. You’ll work on batch and near-real-time data pipelines on cloud platforms, focusing on performance, governance, and operability. This is a client-facing role within Deloitte's Project Delivery Model, offering growth through hands-on data engineering and transformation work. You will contribute to shaping data platforms and uplift engineering practices across engagements.

ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and operate scalable data pipelines (batch and near-real-time) on AWSIngest data from source systems into S3 and SnowflakeDevelop transformations and curated datasets in Snowflake with dimensional modelingImplement orchestration and workflow automation on AWS with retries and idempotencyCreate reusable Python components for ingestion, validation, and transformation; enforce standards via code reviewsOptimize Snowflake performance, cost, and concurrency through appropriate sizing and clusteringTranslate stakeholder requirements into well-defined datasets and data contractsCommunicate with project leadership and cross-functional teams; escalate as neededLead client engagement workstreams focusing on process improvement, optimization, and transformation
Key requirements4+ years delivering production-grade data pipelines and curated datasets4+ years' experience with SQL and Python, including Snowflake and/or PySpark4+ years designing and supporting batch and near-real-time data pipelines on cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure/GCP acceptable)Experience with data integration frameworks and orchestration toolsWorking knowledge of Lakehouse/warehouse architectures and ELT patternsKnowledge of DevOps: CI/CD, version control, Infrastructure-as-CodeAbility to optimize storage, partitioning, formats (Delta, Parquet), and performanceUnderstanding of data quality, data governance, and metadata managementBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related IT disciplineAbility to travel ~10%Agile delivery experienceAnalytical and multi-project prioritizationIndependent work capabilitySQLPythonSnowflake
