Civil Technician

The Portage County Highway department has a seasonal opening as a Civil Technician. This position will start in May and will go through the summer with the option to work through the end of the year. This position works 4 days a week, so you can enjoy a 3 day weekend during the spring and summer!Pay starts at $20.44 / hrThe primary job responsibilities include:Assist staff in various aspects of management of road construction workInterpret construction plansQuantify and document completed workAssist with preliminary and construction surveysTying out section monuments prior to construction & reestablishing after completionAssist in drafting of construction and traffic control plansAssist in updating of Gantt Chart construction schedulePerform traffic countsAssist with storm water inspections, DNR General Permit applications, and other permitting requirementsMinimum qualifications include:High School diploma or equivalent required.Post High School classes in the Civil Engineering field required, Associate degree preferred.Valid driver's license and good driving record.Must be at least 18 years old.Prior experience in a similar work environment preferred.This position is not eligible for benefits.
