Lifeguard and Swim Instructor
The Fond du Lac Family YMCA is hiring lifeguards to positively model and reinforce the YMCA’s core values and mission statement while providing a safe, welcoming environment where members and guests of all ages, cultures, and abilities can enjoy the pool area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains active surveillance of the pool area; checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving
Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies & procedures; completes related reports as required
Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area
Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code
Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed
Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action
Attends staff meetings and in-service training
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum age of 15
No previous experience required
Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, current Red Cross Lifeguard or equivalent
Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
Must be able to pass the pre-requisite of the lifeguard certification class.
WAGE SCALE: Opening shift $11.50+/hr; Other shifts $10.50-$11.50/hr
WORK DAYS: Hiring for weekday shifts - Opening shift 4:30am-8:15 am , 8am-11am & 11am-2pm; additional shifts and flexible scheduling available, weekends and evenings.
