At Silco, you’re not just doing a job, you’re making a difference.Position Overview:We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fire Alarm Designer to join our team. This role is responsible for designing fire alarm systems for new construction, retrofit, and upgrade projects while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of fire alarm systems and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners. NICET certification is strongly preferred.Responsibilities:Design fire alarm systems for commercial and industrial projects in accordance with NFPA, IBC/OBC, local codes, and project specificationsProduce detailed drawings, schematics, and submittal packages using CAD softwareConduct site surveys to assess existing conditions and design requirementsPerform system calculations, including battery and voltage drop calculationsCollaborate with sales, project management, and field teams to ensure accurate and executable designsInterpret and apply applicable codes, standards, and AHJ requirements to all designsSupport estimating and pre-construction efforts as neededReview and QA/QC design packages to ensure accuracy and completenessProvide technical support throughout project lifecycle, including construction and closeoutQualifications:Experience in fire alarm system design, drafting, or related fieldProficiency with FireCad / AutoCAD or similar design softwareStrong understanding of NFPA 72 and fire alarm system principlesAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and specificationsStrong communication and organizational skillsValid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed Ability to pass background check and drug screeningPreferred Qualifications:NICET Certification (Level III or higher strongly preferred)State fire alarm designer license (if applicable)Experience with multiple fire alarm platforms (e.g., Edwards, Potter, Honeywell etc.)Knowledge of permitting and AHJ processesBenefits:In addition to a competitive compensation package, Silco offers a wide range of benefits such as medical, dental, vision, Aflac and a Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
