Staff Software Engineer, Compute Platform (Routing)

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Compute Platform (Routing) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.This role will own the design and automation of routing infrastructure that helps applications run reliably at scale on Kubernetes. You will focus on backend platform capabilities, improving routing performance, and enabling a stronger developer experience across a modern cloud environment. The position partners closely with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to strengthen platform resilience, operational visibility, and service quality.Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship availableCompensation: $218,025 – $256,500 annuallyResponsibilities Own the design and automation of routing infrastructure for Kubernetes Build capabilities on Envoy reverse proxies and Istio gateways Drive measurable improvements in application routing performance Shape the developer experience for running applications on the platform Collaborate with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to meet platform needsQualifications 8+ years of experience in software engineering and infrastructure roles 5+ years with application routing technologies like reverse proxies and service mesh Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java for production-grade services Experience scaling backend infrastructure on AWS with networking knowledge Familiarity with CNCF technologies like Kubernetes, Envoy, and Istio Ability to diagnose and resolve complex distributed systems issues Experience applying generative AI to improve infrastructure workflowsBenefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan Potential equity and bonus eligibilityOur client is an equal opportunity employer.
