Coach Across America is based on the simple premise that highly trained coaches can be among the most transformative adults in young peoples lives and inspire their success on the field, in the classroom, and in life. Coach Across America partners with local nonprofits, schools, and sports organizations to support and train AmeriCorps coaches for a one year service term to work in underserved communities. Our AmeriCorps coaches participate in Sports-Based Youth Development training that emphasize the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills needed to help youth reach their full potential.About Boys & Girls Clubs of the FoothillsThe mission of the Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills (BGCF) is to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible members of our community. To carry this out, we rely on dedicated staff, supporters and volunteers to provide the best youth services possible in the areas of Education, Character & Leadership Development, Health & Life Skills, the Arts, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation. The primary responsibility for the Youth Mentoring Professional (YMP) Coach is to ensure our members are safe, build transformative relationships with them and plan/implement enriching programs/activities for them. The YMP Coach will set-up and implement daily programs, follow Club policies/procedures in leading members, help in all departments as needed and build positive relationships with members.We are looking for multiple half time youth sports coaches who will serve an AmeriCorps service term of 900 hours over one year to support the sports programs, clinics, and play at the sites listed below. We would love experienced coaches, but we are fully prepared to teach and lead staff of any or even no experience with a specific sport or overall as a coach.Responsibilities:Implement and run 3-4 practices a week for the school year including but not limited to three sports over three seasons (Winter- Basketball, Spring- Soccer, Fall- Flag Football)Assist with set-up, break-down, and any other coaching assignments during game days 1-2 days per weekCreate & implement comprehensive curriculum-based activities for the grades assignedServe with a flexible mindset and pivot with schedule, rotation, location, assignment or programmatic changes to meet the needs of the organization and its membersConduct enrichment programs for members and regularly recognize members successesEngage in meaningful and supportive relationships with membersPrepared to support members in their academic needs through homework help, tutoring, and partnering with parents and/or teachersMaintain a clean and safe environmentInput program attendanceSupervise Club members ensuring they remain safe and provide good role modelingEnforce appropriate disciplinary procedures as necessary based on Club policyArrive on time and adhere to dress codeParticipate in required trainingsMentor groups of members as it pertains to our mentoring program and grant requirementsAssist Directors with any information needed to complete grant requirements and reportsAssist Directors and other YMPs with any other administrative and program/activity tasks as requestedFunction as a driver for Club activities and/or school pick ups as requiredOccasional weekend work will be requiredRepresent BGCF both during and outside of work hours in a manner that upholds the mission and values of our organizationJob Requirements:Passion for youth development and mentoringCulturally competent with the ability to work with a diverse group of youth (ethnicity and backgrounds)Positive, can-do attitude, good work ethic and the ability to take on new challengesTeam playerMust be at least 18 years oldAmeriCorps is open to U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residentsMust have, or be working towards a High School diploma, GED, or equivalentSuccessful completion of criminal history background checksUnderstanding of Boys & Girls Clubs of America principlesAbility to implement Boys & Girls Clubs of the Foothills curriculumAbility to drive club minivans for transporting membersReliable personal transportationStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience with Microsoft Office programs and Google Suite Physical Requirements: The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
