POSITION TITLE: High School TeacherREPORTS TO: Building PrincipalBASIC FUNCTION: To help students learn subject matter and skills that will continue to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: The terms of employments are designated by the contract.Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designatedCreates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the studentsPrepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisorEncourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behaviorEmploys a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involvedStrives to implement, by instruction and action, the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectivesAssesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as requiredTakes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilitiesMaintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulationMakes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable termsStrives to maintain and improve professional competenceEstablishes and maintains cooperative relations with othersCooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methodsAccepts a share of the responsibility for co-curricular activities as assignedAttends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as requiredMakes every effort to uphold and follow the school's purchasing proceduresWrites receipts for all money give to his / her by individuals for the school and deposits the money in the Principal's officeMaintains regular attendancePerforms other duties as assigned by Principal or SuperintendentPHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walkingRequires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearingRequires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulationsRequires bending, squatting , crawling, climbing, reachingRequires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weightsEVALUATION:Annual development of Professional Growth Plan. Annual evaluation of job performance by supervisor.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's Degree in field of assignment (minimum requirement)LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Valid Kentucky Teaching Certification for area and grade level of assignment
