Employment Status: Full-time
Compensation: $162,000, commensurate with experience.
Qualifications: Prior orthopedic experience required; exceptional new grads with significant orthopedic clinical exposure may be considered.

Summary
In conjunction with the Star Valley Health mission, vision and values this position will be crucial with direct patient care assisting Orthopedic Surgeons. This would include doing clinic and surgery assists in Star Valley as well as outlying communities. Perform daily patient care tasks in a clinic, surgical, ER, and inpatient settings. Orthopedic training and skills required. This is an at-will position.
Job Duties
Perform direct patient care in a positive and professional manner under the supervision of Orthopedic Surgeons
Take and review medical histories to assess the patients’ needs
Examine and treat orthopedic patients in the clinic and Emergency Room settings
Order and interpret tests as needed to diagnose further treatment
Treat injuries, assist in emergency room as needed for orthopedic related cases
Assist the surgeons in the surgery department and operating room
Educate and counsel patients and family as to current situation, developing and implementing a treatment plan
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule
Round on post-operative surgery patients on the MedSurg floor
Utilize EMR to track patients records
Supervise support staff
Attend appropriate meetings
Perform other duties as needed and assigned•

Clear understanding of orthopedic diagnosis and treatment
Perform orthopedic examinations using standard medical procedures
Skills necessary to assist surgeons in Operating Rooms
Make administrative and procedural decisions
Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise
Proficient oral and written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Maintain skills through training provided as well as self-study
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, communicate effectively, and demonstration of sensitivity to patients, visitors and staff
Comply with HIPAA and other federal, state and local regulations as well as maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in client and staff matters
Excellent organization and prioritization aptitude
Moderate physical activity including standing, walking, pushing, bending and reaching throughout the work day
Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds
Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of personal protective equipment
Ability to use an Electronic Medical Record
Experience & Education:
Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program
Maintain a current Physician Assistant license and certifications
Stay current on CEU’s and health care provider certifications such as BLS, ACLS, etc.
Prior orthopedic experience required; exceptional new grads with significant orthopedic clinical exposure may be considered.
