You will utilize knowledge of regulations impacting the work site, current legislation, environmental safety and workforce health issues, and use this to provide an individualized plan of care for a range of routine to complex occupational health assignments. This role serves as an expert in health promotion and disease prevention, and works in partnership with appropriate people consistent with corporate culture, business objectives and the needs of employee and community populations. Functions as a resource to the EHS staff.Administers the procedures of the occupational and environmental health and safety program consistent with the company's general policies concerning health services.Assesses the health needs of employees and employee populationsPerforms all required medical surveillance activitiesAssesses and treats work related illness and injuriesFunctions as a subject matter expert on case management performed including Worker’s Compensation without lost time, work related and personal restrictions, referralsApplies detailed knowledge of regulations impacting work site and employee population to best address employee and workforce health issuesStays current on legislation and regulations that impact this environmentLearns about employee population demographics and identifies key areas for education and intervention. Implements timely, thorough programs and services that address these needsDialogues with the employees to identify a suitable plan for intervention and/or resumed work activity. Encourages employee to engage in the appropriate intervention and follow-up. Tracks progress and provides continued supportSupports and evaluates clinical procedures and practice guidelinesDevelops and provides opportunities for in-service education/staff development and continuing professional educationProvides leadership, direction and technical counsel to members of the Occupational Health team (i.e. safety, industrial hygiene, bio-safety)Collaborates with upper management to apply the common tools for managing the project scope, cost, schedule and resourcesParticipate in strategic planning process, case management courses, and budgetary and operating expense processesIndependently resolves issues, elevating only the most complex situations to the EHS Manager, and GOHS as needed. Knowledge must address diverse and difficult problems or situationsServes as an occupational and environmental health and safety expert to the corporation, community, and other outside groupsYou’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.ShiftThis is a salaried, 2nd shift position working Monday through Friday. Flexibility in hours and schedule, as well as being on-call, is needed to support 24/7 operation.Required QualificationsBachelors Degree in NursingRegistered Professional Nurse with current state license to practiceMinimum 5 years of Occupational Health and or professional nursing experienceBLS/CPR certificationEquivalent combination of education and work experienceDetailed knowledge of Worker’s Compensation regulationsDetailed knowledge of OSHA and other federal regulations that govern the workplaceBLS/CPR certificationPhysical Assessment skillsCAOHC Certification preferred.Excellent communication skillsStrong written skillsProficient computer-based skillsPreferred QualificationsCertification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN-S)Certification in Case ManagementIn compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
