Senior Structural Engineer Precast and Prestressed Concrete
An established industrial contractor with more than 70 years of experience is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to support complex construction projects nationwide. The organization specializes in turnkey construction solutions, including specialized precast concrete manufacturing and design-build services, and is widely recognized as a go-to contractor for high-grade epoxy intumescent and concrete fireproofing, primarily serving the petrochemical industryThis role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys combining technical design, field support, and cross-functional collaboration.Essential FunctionsPerform structural design and analysis of prestressed and precast concrete elements, including beams, columns, wall panels, piles, and related systemsDesign and evaluate specialty concrete systems, including underground utility trenches, electrical and communication duct banks, and deep foundation systems using precast and prestressed pilesPrepare and review engineering calculations, shop drawings, and erection drawings to ensure accuracy and constructabilityCoordinate with detailing teams, production staff, and field personnel to ensure alignment between design intent, fabrication, and erectionReview and respond to RFIs, submittals, and design revisions throughout the project lifecycleEnsure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including IBC, ACI, and PCI requirementsSupport optimization and value engineering efforts to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness of precast systemsProvide technical support during fabrication and field erection, including troubleshooting design or constructability issuesAssist with project scheduling, budgeting, and tracking of engineering deliverablesProvide guidance and training to detailing personnel to ensure alignment with engineering design intent and support the development of detailing capabilities across the teamKnowledge, Abilities, and Skills for SuccessStrong knowledge of prestressed concrete behavior, PCI design standards, load paths, connection design, and erection stabilityFamiliarity with underground and buried structure design, including soil interaction, durability, and applied loading conditionsExperience with structural design and analysis tools such as ETABS, Tekla Structural Designer, Eriksson Technologies, or similar platformsUnderstanding of precast production processes, erection practices, and lifting design considerationsAbility to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholdersHigh attention to detail, strong problem-solving ability, and a focus on constructability and efficiencyQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering requiredMinimum of eight 8 years of experience in precast and prestressed concrete engineeringProfessional Engineer PE license requiredBenefitsCompetitive base depending on experienceRelocation package and/or sign-on bonusMedical, dental, vision benefits HSA, Group Term Life, and AD&DVoluntary Term LifeShort Term and Long Term Disability 401(K) with matchPTO, Holidays and more!
