Serving children in PK3 through 5th grade, LAMB is a community committed to children and to promoting peace and equality for all.Job OverviewThe job of the Occupational Therapist is to assess students' functional physical development level; plan and implement appropriate treatment to meet individual student objectives; identify architectural barriers; and provide recommendations for accessibility, program development and student placement. As part of the Special Education team, the occupational therapist works to connect LAMB students, teachers, and families to help all our students succeed. If you have experience with students in grades PK3 through 5th grade, apply today!Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and performance within the school environmentConsult with the school-based teams to achieve student outcomesAdapt and modify the environment to meet individual needs and help students function as independently as possibleWithin the IEP process, monitor and reassess the effects of speech-language therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify or discontinue interventionDocument therapy services to ensure accountability of service provision and to meet standards for reimbursement of services as appropriateCollaborate with LAMB personnel and peers to ensure team understanding of student speech and language performance strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning, and service deliveryEvaluate students and formulate student speech and language profiles through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviewsSynthesize evaluation results into comprehensive written reports that reflect strengths and challenges to student participation in the educational environment, inform program development, and guide evidence-based interventions.Develops speech and language-based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results, and provides those services through the IEPParticipate in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings across disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individualized education programs and intervention plans to achieve IEP goals.Present information on programs, services, regulations, etc., for the purpose of serving as a resource to other school personnel and the Board.Other duties as assigned.Basic QualificationsCurrent Speech-Language Pathology License issued by the DC Board of Health.Bachelor's degree or equivalent (Master's Preferred)Graduated from an accredited speech-language therapy professional program recognized by ASHA and completed all fieldwork requirementsBilingual preferred (English/Spanish)Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse backgroundsOpen to becoming familiar with Montessori philosophy and method of educationExperience working with a multidisciplinary team (e.g. general education teachers, special education teachers, occupational therapist, physical therapists)Able to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to parent, staff, and student needs and informationExperience with Google WorkspaceMeet health requirements, including immunizations and TB screeningPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
