JOB DESCRIPTIONCONTROLS ENGINEER, FOAM BUSINESS UNITLooking for an experienced controls engineer who will be responsible for leading the development and support of equipment used for polyurethane foam manufacturing at all our facilities in North and South America. This position requires up to 50% travel, occasionally supporting projects on weekends and holidays, with flexibility to ensure good work life balance.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include supporting operations with the following:System Design & ProgrammingDesign and program PLC/HMI systems for foam manufacturing equipmentThe plants primarily use Siemens and Allen Bradley PLCsMust have experience with different programming languagesLadder, function block, statement list, structured control languageCreate operator interface screens and SCADA systems with TIA Portal and Aveva InTouchProcess Control & OptimizationMonitor and optimize foam production processes including mixing, curing, and cutting operationsImplement process control strategies for temperature, pressure, and chemical dosing systemsTroubleshoot control system issues to minimize production downtimeMaintenance & SupportProvide technical support for production equipment and automation systemsDevelop and support PM procedures for control panels, sensors, and instrumentationDocument control system modifications and maintain as-built drawingsMaintain archive of PLC programs throughout facilityProject ManagementLead automation upgrade projects from concept to commissioningCoordinate with equipment vendors and contractorsManage project budgets and timelinesEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree in electrical or controls engineering or equivalentMinimum 5 years of industry experience - automotive interiors experience preferredExperience installing automated equipment such as assembly lines and robot assembly cells preferred.Technical SkillsPLC programming and troubleshooting - Siemens / Allen Bradley / ModiconHMI programming - TIA Portal / InTouch / iFixRobot cell design and programming - Fanuc / MotomanAble to generate, update and maintain machinery electrical schematics and machinery diagramsKnowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus)Understanding of electrical codes and safety standards (NEC, NFPA 79)Business SkillsCapital equipment budget planning and trackingAbility to effectively influence and work in cooperation with a cross functional teamPosition based in Plymouth, MIPRIMARY LOCATION Central Tech Unit Plymouth MI
