We are currently seeking a Supervisor – Engineering Suture to support our textile braiding team. Main Objective:
Designs, develops, implement superior medical device products and systems in order to create ecstatic clients.
Works with the Design Engineers, Quality Engineers and Product Managers to recommend alterations and enhancements to improve quality of products and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises Manufacturing Engineers
Investigates and test in time reliability and quality improvements
Drives automation to replace the manual process as much as possible
Develops and reviews process improvements by achieving efficiency and savings
Demonstrates quality processes by reducing or maintaining scrap on or below 5%
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
Works very close with the Design Engineers and research team and develops ideas.
Ability to work well on a team and alone
Develops and measures department performance goals
Develops full understanding of all New Product Development
Relays design ideas to team and Manufacturing Engineer Manager
Interviews staff, hires and oversees staff training, responsible for staff development and management
Manages / Executes projects to support innovation / continuous improvement and growth of Operations.
Technical expert in manufacturing related processes and able to define, conceptualize and develop manufacturing processes to meet the needs of the business.
Supervises, assigns, and coordinates the work of manufacturing engineering and technicians and others on project and assignments as appropriate.
Works within the Quality Systems and manage Engineering task required to qualify and validate processes.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor degree in Engineering required; Preferably Biomedical, Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing
5+ years of Medical Device manufacturing experience required
Experience managing exempt/professional level positions required
Textile Engineering or Textile Sciences background preferred
Experience with fabric design & manufacturing preferred
Experience with medical textiles manufacturing preferred
Proven experience in leading process improvement projects required
Medical device manufacturing environment preferred
Experience in work flow optimization, work measurement, efficiencies required
Recognized process improvement training (Lean, Six Sigma) preferred

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
Ability to work independently and effectively with cross functional teams.
Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes.
Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
SPC (Statistical Process Control) knowledge.
Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
Experienced user of MS Office Suite.
Experience with planning and conducting tests to validate equipment and processes.
Experience in completing technical documentation for engineering and manufacturing.
Familiarity with clean room practices preferred.
Project management skills preferred.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
Twisting, winding, braiding weaving, dyeing, knitting, embroidery, laser cutting and needle attaching equipment experience desired.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
