Location: This posting will be used to fill several vacancies throughout the district to include Mt. Wolf, Orendorf, Northeastern HS, Shallow Brook, Conewago, and Northeastern MSPosition PurposeUnder the guidance of professional staff, provides instructional, physical, emotional and behavioral support to students, including those with special needs and/or Individualized Educational Programs (IEP). The incumbent assists with lesson plan implementation, student supervision, and managing classroom behavior. This position may be assigned to either special education (life skills support, autistic support, emotional support, or learning support) or general education classrooms.General DutiesParticipates in development, implementation, and monitors progress of IEPs for each student as assigned.Assist assigned student(s) with classroom assignments, tests, activities, etc.; ensuring student(s) understand all assignments given by the teachers.Assist student(s) with personal care needs as required i.e. dressing, toileting and hygiene needs etc.Oversee instructional activities of assigned student(s) as directed by the teacher and monitor results.Implement a positive behavior support plan and monitor student(s) progress.Document and report relevant information regarding student(s) progress, behavioral changes, or physical needs to the special education teacher and supervisor using mandated daily log.Maintain daily communication with the special education teacher and administrator.Ensure a safe, environment conducive to learning.Promotes safety of self and students through adherence to safety policies which may include body positioning, physical management techniques, Universal Precautions and proper lifting of students.Remains calm, positive and composed when students engage in problem behavior.Recognizes signs of frustration, anxiety and anger in order to implement antecedent strategies and teach alternative behaviors which may prevent problem behavior..Assist in developing and maintaining a positive classroom environment to encourage positive behavior from student(s).Maintain communication with the general education teacher and the special education teacher.Utilizes approved de-escalation and physical management procedures as necessary to assist a student during a crisis period and to maintain student and others safe. Using professional language, follows require post-incident reporting procedures to include proper notification.Uses and maintains student adaptive equipment and/ or augmentative devices needed for students.Attend professional development/in-service programs and maintain Highly Qualified Status (HQT) per Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) requirements.Maintain accurate records assuring confidentiality as required by state and federal law, in order to support monthly School-Based ACCESS/Medicaid Medical Billing for students.Participate in required training and submit required documentation for ACCESS/Medicaid Medical billing for students.Participate and successfully complete SCM trainingPerform other duties as assigned.QualificationsAssociates Degree or higher; orTwo years post secondary study; orAttainment of Highly Qualified StatusOther education/experience as accepted by the school board and administration
