Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Construction
Position Summary:The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy and light machinery/equipment within a shop environment. This includes construction equipment such as dozers, excavators, and aerial lifts. As well as fleet vehicles, water pumps, and small gas operated engines. Ensuring all equipment is safe, reliable, and operating at peak performance.Key Functions and Responsibilities :Diagnostics & RepairsTroubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, including gas and diesel enginesDisassemble and reassemble components for repair and/or replacementUse diagnostic tools, software, and multimeters for troubleshootingPreventative MaintenanceComplete preventive maintenance and inspections such as safety checks, performing scheduled maintenance tasks (oil and filter replacements, etc.), as well as documenting results accurately in work orders for each machineTechnical DocumentationAbility to interpret schematics, blueprints and technical manuals.Document work orders and service activities using designated systems and software on tablets and/or laptopsShop OperationsMaintain and organize shop, spare parts, and equipment for readinessAssist with parts inventory and orderingOccasionally support field mechanics with parts delivery and/or technical adviceRequired Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years' experience servicing heavy equipment and light trucks in a shop environmentStrong mechanical aptitude and ability to read schematicsFamiliarity with OSHA safety standardsValid driver's licenseOwn Master Tool Set for equipment servicePreferred Qualifications:Experience with digital diagnostic platforms and telematicsKnowledge of hydraulic, electrical, gas and diesel systemsCertifications from ASE or similar organizationsProficient in Microsoft SuitePhysical Requirements:Work is performed in shop and outdoor environments year-round, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and other harsh weather. Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined or awkward positions for extended periods. Regularly lifts and carries up to 50 lbs. Must tolerate dust, noise, vibration, and exposure to fuels, lubricants, and other shop chemicals.Powered by JazzHR
