Position: Special Education CoordinatorReports to: Headmaster/Regional CoordinatorDept. /School: Special Student Services-Assigned Campus; Great Hearts TexasEEO Classification: ProfessionalFLSA STATUS: Exempt, Full-timeThe Special Education Campus Coordinator (in collaboration with the Special Education Director, Regional Coordinator, and Campus Headmaster) will:* Coordinate all aspects of the Child Centered Special Education Process on assigned campus.* Ensure that the ARD/IEP process and the quality of programs for students with disabilities are in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Master's Degree (Preferred)Valid Texas Teacher CertificationSpecial Education Certification/Appropriate Board LicensureExperience:3 years of successful teaching experienceCampus leadership experience in Special Education (2 years)Experience coaching/mentoring teachers and/or providing professional developmentSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to prepare appropriate individual education program (IEPs)Knowledge of local, state and federal rules and regulations pertaining to special educationKnowledge of various special education eligibility conditions and the challenges to learningKnowledge of curriculum in grades K through 12Basic computer skillsStrong organization and communication (written and oral)Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, and parentsBenefits:* Exceptional Benefits (medical, dental, vision etc.) with minimal employee cost* Texas Teacher Retirement SystemAdditional Requirements:Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Texas fingerprint clearance card.Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching.
