Outpatient Mental Health Therapist

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary Assesses clinical needs and coordinatesappropriate services to individuals, couples, Groups, and families,through the provision of counseling, psycho education, development andmonitoring of interdisciplinary treatment plans. May provide communityoutreach, education, and consultation regarding clinical issues. Initialassignment will be working with youth enrolled in the ComprehensiveCommunity Services program. Specific focus will be on assessment, psychoeducation, psychotherapy and direct intervention with youth and theirfamilies using family systems approaches and other evidenced-basedpractices, both in homes and community settings. Essential Duties Servesas liaison with consumers/patients, families, referral sources,community agents, third party payers and others regarding services asneeded. Obtains and provides accurate and timely reports ofconsumer/patient status, progress, and needs. Demonstrates familiaritywith patient and other rights, assures their application in treatmentprovided, and assists in the resolution of complaints, disputes andgrievances as may arise. Achieves engagement and conducts psychosocialhistories and clinical assessments of need. Facilitates and participatesin the development and delivery of outcome-oriented treatment plans andmodalities including participating on interdisciplinary treatment teamsand providing individual patient or group psychotherapy and familypsychoeducation as needed. Coordinates treatment, clinical assessmentand discharge, demonstrates collaboration with consumer/other familymembers, their support networks, other department staff, and alternativetreatment resources as needed to assure access to necessary communityresources. Complies with applicable county, state and federal guidelinesrelated to the provision of treatment and maintains accurate and timelydocumentation according to applicable requirements, codes, policies, andstandards. Identifies the need for and assists in the planning anddevelopment of additional or revised treatment approaches and servicesas necessary. Assumes responsibility for and participates in activitieswhich assure evidence-based practice and further professional growth anddevelopment. Demonstrates an understanding and practice of dualdiagnosis/co-occurring approaches and works with team members to addressthese issues. Attends and positively contributes to staff meetings anddepartment performance overall. Attends in-service and outside agencytraining sessions as appropriate. Maintains the confidential nature ofclient and business information. Complies with the Human Services and/orCommunity Programs policies. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lifting 20 pounds maximumwith frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weight up to 10 pounds.Intermittent standing, walking, and sitting; occasional driving. Usinghand(s)/feet for repetitive single grasping, fine manipulation, pushingand pulling, and operating controls. Occasional bending, twisting,squatting, climbing, reaching, and grappling. Communicating orally in aclear manner. Distinguishing sounds at various frequencies and volumes.Distinguishing people or objects at varied distances under a variety oflight conditions. Knowledge ofalcohol and other drug abuse dynamics, programs, and treatmentmethodology. Knowledge of applicable laws (Chapter 45, 51 & 55) andrelated court procedures. Knowledge of community human servicesresources and utilization. bility to assess clinical needs in the areasof mental health and addiction disorders and determine treatment needs.Ability to form positive relationships and engage consumers/patients andtheir families in treatment approaches. Ability to establish andmaintain effective working relationships with other staff and thepublic. Ability to be decisive and to make sound decisions under thepressure of crisis or emergency situations. Ability to workindependently. Ability to maintain emotional stability in stressfulworking situations. Ability to accept and constructively use criticism.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Abilityto maintain records and reports timely and accurately. Ability to useindependent judgment in decision making.
