Software Developer Intern (4 months - full time)

Job DescriptionThe Software Development Intern role provides an entry-level opportunity to contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software solutions while working under the guidance of experienced engineers and technical leads. In this role, the intern supports assigned development efforts by implementing code, participating in code reviews, contributing to documentation, and assisting with problem analysis and resolution. The position emphasizes professional growth through hands-on experience with modern development practices, collaborative teamwork, and exposure to Agile and DevSecOps principles, all while supporting technology solutions that further the mission of the Church with purpose, integrity, and accountability.Work Schedule:This is a 40 hour per week internship that is expected to last approximately 4 months. Normal office hours are between 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The offices are located in Riverton, UT. For those living along the Wasatch Front, this position will be in office one day per week, working from home the other 4. For those living out of state, 100% working from home can be accommodated.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities may vary by assignment depending on department and need. The Intern receives assignments from supervising staff. The Manager reviews the Intern's work occasionally. The supervisor reviews each assignment as it is completed. The Intern is expected to meet rigid and challenging deadlines, work in harmony with other people, take direction on each assignment, and give full attention to detail. Independence in working, tact, and diplomacy are required. Sound judgment of Church doctrine, history, organization, policy and protocol are also expected.QualificationsYou should be currently enrolled or within one year of your graduation date from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or another related field.Internship is for current temple worthy members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day SaintsShould be working toward a degree in the area of engineering, computer science or information technologyExcellent communication skills for interacting confidently and providing information within a team environment, often virtuallyProgramming language experience in any of the following: (Java/J2EE, .NET/C#, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, or full-stack developmentFamiliarity with general cloud technologies or AWS, in example - infrastructure as code (server templates, automation templates, policies, etc), or Github actions, cloud formation, Terraform, Azure DevOps, etc.Familiarity with some aspects of machine learning, in example, AI, machine learning model creation, training, test AWS toolset or SagemakerAbility to work independently and with mentorAbility to multi-task and customer driven requirementsProblem solving, decision making, conflict resolution skills are desiredSelf-motivated with good time management skillsAbout UsChurch employees find joy and satisfaction in using their unique talents and abilities to further the Lord's work.
