Casual Part-Time RN - Potomac State College Academic Affairs

The Student Health Center at WVU-Potomac State College (Keyser) is currently accepting applications for a Casual Part-Time Registered Nurse. This is a part-time position during the months of August through May to provide coverage when the Health Center Nurse cannot be on campus. Specific weekly schedules and daily hours will be determined based on the clinic needs. The Part-Time RN collaborates with the clinical leadership team (Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Manager) to optimize Student Health Center operations and ensure student healthcare needs are met effectively. Beyond clinical duties, the RN plays a key role in executing campus-wide wellness programs and health initiatives. This role requires a flexible approach to meet the fluctuating needs of the academic calendar. What You'll Do Clinical Care & Triaging: Provide professional nursing care for students, including physical assessments, wound care, and medication administration. Conduct initial triaging to prioritize patient needs based on clinical urgency. Collaborative Operations: Partner with the Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Manager to determine optimal Health Center coverage and ensure patient flow is managed in an effective and efficient manner. Wellness Implementation: Assist in the planning and execution of campus-wide health initiatives, such as immunization clinics, health screenings, and educational workshops. On-Site Emergency Care: Provide immediate first aid and stabilization for illnesses or injuries occurring within the Student Health Center facility. This position does not provide off-site or mobile emergency response; for emergencies elsewhere on campus, the RN assists by coordinating with emergency services. Comprehensive Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records in both electronic (EHR) and hard-copy paper charting formats as required. Ensure all documentation strictly adheres to HIPAA, FERPA, and institutional policies. Length of Assignment: 12 months Work Hours: variable Graduate of an accredited nursing program. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred; however, equivalent professional clinical experience will be considered in lieu of a BSN. A minimum of two (2) years of experience involving: Clinical experience, preferably in emergency medicine, ambulatory care, community health, or an urgent care setting. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered. All qualifications must be met by the time of employment. Schedule & Availability Term: This is an academic-year position, typically running from August 15th through May 5th. Shift: Day shift only; no weekend or holiday requirements. Hours: Specific weekly schedules and daily hours will be determined based on clinic needs and candidate availability.
