Rail Project Manager

Position SummaryA leading railroad construction and maintenance contractor is seeking an experienced Rail Project Manager to oversee projects throughout the Southeast. This role is responsible for managing field operations, crews, subcontractors, budgets, schedules, and client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within scope.The ideal candidate has a strong background in railroad construction, track work, or heavy civil infrastructure, with proven experience managing multiple crews and complex, time-sensitive projects.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee full lifecycle of railroad construction and maintenance projectsManage project budgets, schedules, and cost controlsCoordinate field crews, subcontractors, and equipment resourcesServe as primary point of contact for railroad clients and stakeholdersEnsure compliance with FRA, OSHA, and railroad-specific safety regulationsConduct site visits to monitor progress and quality standardsPrepare project updates, reports, and documentationIdentify and mitigate risks, delays, and cost overrunsCollaborate with estimating and operations teams during pre-construction planningMaintain strong client relationships and support business growth initiativesQualifications5+ years of project management experience in railroad, track, or heavy civil constructionStrong understanding of rail infrastructure, maintenance-of-way, or related servicesExperience managing multiple field crews and subcontractorsProven ability to manage budgets and control costsKnowledge of FRA regulations and railroad safety standardsAbility to travel to job sites as needed (regional travel required)Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office and project management softwarePreferred QualificationsExperience working directly with Class I railroads or short-line rail companiesPMP certification (preferred but not required)Experience with environmental or infrastructure projectsCompensation & BenefitsSalary - $65k-$85kPerformance-based bonus opportunitiesCompany vehicle or vehicle allowanceHealth, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off
