International Logistics Specialist – Pharmaceutical Industry

Job Summary:The International Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing theglobal transportation, distribution, and compliance of pharmaceutical products. This roleensures timely, cost-effective, and regulatory-compliant movement of goods acrossinternational borders while maintaining product integrity, including temperature-sensitiveshipments. The specialist works closely with internal teams, external vendors, andregulatory agencies to support uninterrupted global supply chain operations.Key Responsibilities:Coordinate international shipments of pharmaceutical products via air, sea, and ground transportation.Ensure compliance with global regulations, including GDP (Good Distribution Practices), GMP, FDA, EMA, and international trade laws.Manage import/export documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, customs declarations)Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve delays or disruptionsMonitor inventory levels, reconcile discrepancies, and support demand planning to prevent shortages or overstock.Prepare and review shipping documentation, including bills of lading, certificates of analysis, customs paperwork, and regulatory forms.Collaborate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and third-party logistics providersUse logistics to update records, generate reports, and maintain traceability.Oversee cold chain logistics, ensuring proper handling of temperature-controlled productsMaintain accurate records and ensure audit readiness for regulatory inspectionsSupport quality assurance by reporting deviations, investigating temperature excursions, and implementing corrective actions.Analyze logistics performance and implement cost-saving and efficiency improvementsSupport risk management and contingency planning for supply chain disruptionsCommunicate proactively with internal stakeholders regarding shipment status and issuesQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business, or related field (preferred).3–5+ years of experience in international logistics required, preferably in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.Strong knowledge of import/export regulations and pharmaceutical compliance standardsExperience with cold chain logistics and temperature-sensitive shipments.Familiarity with ERP systems (preferred) and logistics tracking toolsExcellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.Certification in supply chain or logistics (preferred e.g., APICS, CSCMP, CLSS)Knowledge of global trade compliance and customs processesStrong analytical skills and attention to detailWork Environment:Office-based with occasional coordination across multiple time zonesMay require after-hours availability to address urgent shipment issuesCollaboration with global teams and external partnersKey Competencies:Attention to detailRegulatory compliance mindsetProblem-solving and decision-makingCommunication and collaborationAdaptability and time managementCompensation & Benefits:Salary Range 100K-120K, depending on experienceHealth, dental, and vision insurance plus retirement benefitsPaid Holidays
