Engineer V
Overview
In this role you will lead the alignment, assembly, integration and test of optical space payloads from component to system level, ensuring conformance to mission requirements. You will collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and subcontractors to validate and iterate payload designs, procedures, and interfaces. You bring hands-on space optics experience, from ground-based alignment to environmental testing, and you develop test plans to optimize system performance. You’ll work on high-impact programs that enable space, defense and sensor capabilities and you will guide less experienced engineers toward successful delivery.
ResponsibilitiesPerform hands-on assembly and test of space optical systemsSet up and maintain optical metrology and alignment test equipment (calibrated light sources, interferometers, autocollimators)Support parametric studies of electro-optical sensors and concepts and perform design trade studiesAnticipate future engineering needs and modify plans to meet technical goalsMay assume technical lead or management of project teamsMaintain confidentiality of sensitive informationOperate safely per procedures and regulationsEngage with stakeholders and represent the organization as a technical contactTravel and extended hours as requiredEnsure DoD security clearance readiness and compliance
