Job Description
This is a service-oriented position that provides a safe and secure environment for students, employees and visitors of Georgetown College. This individual will assist in enforcing college policies and provide coverage for college events as necessary. Background in law enforcement, security and/or prevention is preferred. Employment is conditional upon passing a pre-employment physical/drug screen and a background check.EXPECTATIONS OF EMPLOYEEAdhere to College Policy and proceduresAct as a role model within and outside the CollegePerform duties as workload necessitatesMaintain a positive and respectful attitudeCommunicate regularly with the Director about Department issuesDemonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workloadConsistently report to work on time, prepared to perform duties of position and others as assigned by the DirectorMeet or exceed Department productivity standardsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPatrol and monitor campus activitiesEnsure the safety of students, employees, visitors and propertyMaintain working knowledge of the locations of various departments, buildings, access routes and admitting requirementsDevelop, monitor and enforce all college safety and security proceduresEnforce procedural rules and regulationsConduct safety inspectionsFacilitate loss prevention effortsCoordinate parking and traffic controlAssist in maintaining the College's compliance with fire safety and other campus regulationsProvide escorts when requestedLock and unlock doors / buildingsReport, in writing, any and all safety concernsCollaborate and build relationships with Local and State Emergency Services and OfficialsProvide coverage for sporting and other college events as neededRespond to emergency situations as requested by the Director (sometimes outside of regularly scheduled shifts)SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNoneKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred; or two to four year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to handle potential emergency situations in a calm, rational, efficient manner.Communication / Language -- Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.Mathematical -- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Reasoning -- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations -- Valid driver's license with a clean record.
