Production Machine Operator (8 and 12-Hour Shifts)

OperatorThe Operator is responsible for running specified equipment and contributing skills and expertise to the Production Line to run efficiently and effectively. The Operator position duties are an essential part of our day-to-day operation; learning and applying established practices and established standards is paramount. As a member of the Production Team, Operators take an active role in the areas of safety, quality, and productivity, and must insist on team accountability and trust.Starting pay: $19-20/hour plus shift differential (.25/hour from 3p-11p, $1.00/hour from 11p-7a)Essential Functions:Operate in work groups and monitors processes within an assigned area of responsibilityLoad and unload items from machines and conveyorsFeed materials through production equipmentMonitor and inspect products to verify conformance to quality and safety standardsOperate equipment while evaluating product or package qualityTransfers finished products, raw materials, tools, or equipment between storage and work areas by hand or using hand trucks or powered lift trucksRemove products, machine attachments, or waste material from machinesInitiates cleaning and sanitation of assigned areasEnsures daily housekeeping duties are completed thoroughly and correctlyResponsible for reporting food safety issues following established SOPs and GMPs; escalates serious or unresolved issues to Lead Trainers or acting Supervisors.Participate in start-ups, shut-downs, changeovers and cleans; contributes to ensure efficiency and on-time completion.Assist in ensuring new team members are learning and consistently following SOPs, GMPs and other safety and food safety guidelines or regulations. May be responsible to cross-train or onboard newMonitor, track and record observations and contribute to problem solving, process stability, and variance reductionAdhere to Personnel, Food Safety and Safety policies, paying special attention to recipe adherence and lot code trackingRecord down-time causes, perform minor troubleshootingReport malfunction or problems to Lead Trainers and/or Supervisors, immediatelyComplete all operation-specific data collection throughout shift, with integrity, accurately and on time.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Must be 18 years of age or olderHigh School diploma or equivalent preferredAbility to understand and communicate work instructions in English1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing/food production environment preferredHigh mechanical aptitude is essential for this positionAbility to maintain regular and punctual attendancePatience and the ability to communicate in a diverse work environmentAbility to operate machines in a safe mannerAbility to analyze machine operations and propose solutions to problemsUnderstanding of basic mathematical calculations, reading numbers and symbols, and record keepingAbility to work in a team environment, being flexible and adaptive to changing needsAbility to manage time effectively, plan and organize work spaceAbility to learn and apply company standards including, but not limited to, lock-out/tag-out, safety practices, SOPs, GMPs, employee handbook, etc.Working Conditions/Physical Factors:Positions require standing, repetitive movement, bending and twisting, and using hands to handle objects; exposure to sustained noise levels; exposure to a variety of food allergens; working in very hot temperatures; exposure to hazards such as machinery, slippery floors, ladders and powered industrial vehicles. May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).Repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs. and repetitive transferring of buckets up to 100 lbs. from dollies to palletsAbility to stand for 95-100 % of shift, sometimes up to 12 hoursAble to work in environment containing nuts, peanuts, dairy, grains and other allergensMust have the ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly and accuratelyMust be available for all shifts, nights, weekends, some holidays; lots of potential for overtimeOther duties as assigned: This job description is not intended to be all inclusive, but to serve as a guideline.
