Locum Tenens General Surgeon Opportunity Near Murray, KY We are seeking a skilled General Surgeon for a locum tenens position near Murray, KY. This opportunity is ideal for a physician looking for a hospital-based role with 24-hour call coverage starting December 2024. Position Overview: Position: Locum Tenens General Surgeon Location: Near Murray, KY Dates: December 2024 - Ongoing Rate Type: On Call (Daily) Shift Type: 24-hour shifts Weekend Requirements: Yes On Call Requirements: Yes Coverage Details: Schedule: 24-hour shifts for EMTALA call coverage (7am - 7am) 3-7 days per month, with availability starting around Christmas Reason for Coverage: Expanding the coverage pool Practice Setting: Hospital-based coverage with potential minimal after-hours clinic call support Responsibilities: Primary Duties: Respond to emergency department calls and hospital general surgery consults Involvement in ICU patient care as needed Average Number of Cases: 1-3 surgical cases per day 2-4 consults per day Required Procedures: General surgical cases (adult, pediatric, trauma) Central line insertion Chest tube insertion Vascular access devices Cholecystectomy Hernioplasty Colon/small bowel surgery Facility Details: EMR: EPIC Number of Operating Rooms: 12 OR Staff: Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) RN First Assists Well-rounded and seasoned OR staff Patient Demographics: Pediatrics to geriatrics (pediatrics typically limited to appendectomy and skin/soft tissue) Certification and Licensure Requirements: Board Certification: Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery (ABoS) - REQUIRED State License: Active Kentucky state license - REQUIRED (must be currently active) COVID Vaccination: Preferred; must have by the time of credentialing Background: Clean background preferred Additional Information: Robotics: Available for certified surgeons Credentialing: Approximately 90 days; emergency temp privileges available if needed If you are a qualified General Surgeon looking for a rewarding locum tenens opportunity with flexible scheduling and the chance to contribute to a dynamic healthcare team, we encourage you to apply.
